Jungle Boogie with The Blonds
By Steff Yotka
All of Fashionista has been looking forward to The Blonds’ show since our invites showed up.
We expected rhinestones, corsets, wild prints, and an awesome experience. We were right on all counts.
The show opened with one of The Blonds stomping down the runway in a gorilla suit, tearing it off, and working it up and down the runway one more time. The audience cheered like crazy, and we couldn’t help but add a few shouts.
Tons of zebra and a coat with two faux lions’ heads on the shoulders made it feel like the sexiest safari in existence.
With shiny spikes and sparkles galore, Britt said the collection was her “dream figure skating wardrobe,” particularly one shimmering rose-gold dress with a sweetheart neckline. Olympians, are you listening?
Also of note: Barneys fashion director Julie Gilhart sat front row, which we can only assume to mean two things. Either Barney’s is planning to stock The Blonds (though we don’t know how they will ever mass-produce those corsets and we don’t want to think about the exorbitant price) or Julie is getting a style makeover, and is forgoing chic day wear for sexy, slinky mini dresses a la Anna dello Russo. We kind of hope for both options, actually.
