Karen Elson on Erin Fetherston’s Nico Inspired Show
By Steff YotkaFact: There are few people cooler than Nico. So when the invites to Erin Fetherston read “Chelsea Girl” I jumped for joy; when Velvet Underground came on the soundtrack, a giant smile swept across my face.
But something was missing from the ’60s Nico vibe I knew I was supposed to feel. Even with the models’ fake Nico bangs (or Erin Fetherston bangs?) and relaxed style, it felt like the collection was trying too hard. After all, who thinks of a drugged-out Wahol muse when they think of Erin Fetherston?
Not I.
Fetherston’s attempts at edgy veered into a strange territory of violet chiffon paired with metallic black wool, purple velvet dresses and lace sleeves, and one jersey and lace dress that looked more Megan Fox than Zoe Kravitz, who sat front row. I did love the quirky bird prints adorning a few dresses and tops, and Karen Elson, loved it. See for yourself, above.

Hate to disagree with you ( which I find is an infrequent happening) but I absolutely adored it :) wanted to steal it all and wear it right now… -Kristyn
Also really disagree and am surprised to read this on fashionista.com. I think this was Erin's best collection yet and I always love what she does. Her interpretation of Nico was perfect, not to literal and she made it her own. I would love to own every piece in this show!
i'm very disappointed – nico is so much more than the chelsea girl/andy warhol muse sixties stereotype.
