Fact: There are few people cooler than Nico. So when the invites to Erin Fetherston read “Chelsea Girl” I jumped for joy; when Velvet Underground came on the soundtrack, a giant smile swept across my face.
But something was missing from the ’60s Nico vibe I knew I was supposed to feel. Even with the models’ fake Nico bangs (or Erin Fetherston bangs?) and relaxed style, it felt like the collection was trying too hard. After all, who thinks of a drugged-out Wahol muse when they think of Erin Fetherston?
Fetherston’s attempts at edgy veered into a strange territory of violet chiffon paired with metallic black wool, purple velvet dresses and lace sleeves, and one jersey and lace dress that looked more Megan Fox than Zoe Kravitz, who sat front row. I did love the quirky bird prints adorning a few dresses and tops, and Karen Elson, loved it. See for yourself, above.
