Kelly Cutrone’s new reality show, Kell on Earth, premiered on Bravo last night.
We watched the first episode, which revolved around Spanish designer Davidelfin’s first Bryant Park show and Chado Ralph Rucci’s seating disaster, in the basement of the Tribeca Grand Hotel with Kelly and the rest of her People’s Revolution staff – it was brilliant.
The show’s the closest reality TV’s ever come to capturing the fashion industry. It’s fast, it’s stressful, it’s glamorous about 7% of the time and when your job is done – and you’ve done it well – it’s pretty fucking rewarding. Bascially, it’s like every other industry.
After the show, someone mentioned Tavi, would Kelly be inviting her to the shows?
“Who? What?” Kelly said, “Is that the kid? Whatever, sure, if she wants to come. I think the problem is, no one knows what the hell to do with new media.”
No one but Kelly, obviously.

All I have to say is Mondays just got a whole lot better.
My Momma and I spoke on commercial breaks and I explained to her that this is very real and that IS Kelly and that her showroom always has the best designers to pull in NYC. There is no way that I would want to work on shows in that capacity. So incredibly stressful. My only wish is that the world would get to see more of Pablo! *keeping fingers crossed
LOL as much as i adore kelly, she does NOT have “the best designers to pull in NYC”. the brands she represents are strictly B-list.
this show was a huge disappointment. at least in the rachel zoe project there are interesting relationships and personalities. this is just a bunch of tired looking girls yelling at each other. eek.

I learned a lot from last night’s episode. I thought it provided a good look into the world of fashion PR (as much as a *reality* show can).
I really like that everyone looks as though they are actually working: the office is an organized mess (like most are) and the players aren’t all glammed up. I’d expect with the chaotic hours people work during fashion week, there wouldn’t be much time left over to even think about hair and make-up.
I never got a *real* feeling at all from ‘Stylista’ or ‘Running in Heels’; everyone was just too well put-together. And maybe that was the point; to sell the magazines’ brand as opposed to giving a true view of the world of fashion publishing.

well, that’s exactly what fashion PR is: a bunch of tired looking people with no personality yelling at each other
I totally appreciate the first realistic depiction of the fashion industry. I adore the Rachel Zoe Project, but Kell on Earth is much more accurate. Fashion Week is stressful, everyone’s tired and cranky and unless you are at a show you ain’t wearing makeup and you’re looking to change into your flats asap.
haha….amen guest #7 and to britt for this title
this is show is just what we needed to have on tv.
people need to stop thinking that fashion PR is all about the fashion and the perks, just like any other career, you work your ass off to get to a result.
I agree with everyone, this show is a look inside of what really goes on during fashion week….its not pretty. I loved this show because this is as real as reality tv is getting. I loved Kelly before the show and I lover her even more!! I am so going to go get her book now; it is a must have for my fashion library!!
I love Kelly, she’s a great friend and colleague.
