Marios Schwab Is Halston’s Knight in Shining Armour
By Britt Aboutaleb
Halston’s had a hell of a time, but the minute I heard Marios Schwab was on board I thought, “Finally, this is going to work.”
Sure enough, last night, Marios debuted a stunning collection for the legendary label. The presentation was held in a giant studio on the far west side–the models sprawled out on modern furniture, in twos and threes, wearing short leather dresses, long sleeved shifts, slim pants and a few gowns invoking the history of the house, without being too literal.
Meanwhile, Harvey lurked in a corner until Sarah Jessica Parker arrived. The actress, who was named Creative Director of Halston Heritage last month, breezed past the cameras, “Excuse me, I have to meet Marios!”
And suddenly, I was left staring into a sea of beautiful dresses wondering how in the world they brought her on board without meeting him and hoping that her star power doesn’t overpower his talent.

Nope. Not modern. The evening clothes were lovely, but the daywear– well, uptight, stiff, and just ugly.
This is the best renewed Halston collection yet. But, how exactly do two people collaborate on a line without actually meeting? Technology is great, but if I were SJP and adding my celebrity name to a collection, even if it was with Marios Schwab, I would want to feel and inspect everything.
