Prom Queen Betsey Johnson Channels 1970s Gunne Sax
By Lauren Sherman
Jessica McClintock might be the queen of prim prom dresses, but for girls who are more likely to wear a pair of Chucks to their formal than dyed satin shoes from Payless, Betsey Johnson rules.
That’s why it’s interesting that Johnson did plenty of dresses inspired by McClintock’s Gunne Sax line, which is best known for the calico prints it made so popular in the 1970s. To be sure, if we could live our high school years over again, the prom would be spent in a Betsey Johnson dress.
With Kelly Osborne walking and models booty dancing down the runway, the show was an entertaining romp. And yes, the Alexander McQueen tribute at the end–with a model wearing his signature balloon lips–nearly brought us to tears, despite all the joy in the room.

I absolutely adored this collection (not that I ever don't love a Betsey show) and the Alexander McQueen tribute was lovely.
