Rachel Antonoff’s Mystery at Lafayette House
By Kate Kaunitz
The award for most creative presentation goes to Rachel Antonoff, who presented her collection yesterday at the Lafayette House in the East Village.
The designer staged a murder mystery at the quaint hotel—the lights were dim, music hummed in the background, and models were placed throughout three connecting rooms.
Each room presented a different scene, and as you traveled through the ground floor of the hotel, you solved the mystery and examined the clothes. As I passed by, models would silently act out roles—all of the girls were either suspects or investigators.
The collection was “detective” inspired, and Rachel drew inspiration from Nancy Drew and Sherlock Holmes books. She showed cocktail frocks with brogues, floral prints, button-down blouses and t-strap black patent flats. The shoes were excellent, and I think I’ll be buying a pair of each come fall.

I went to this show also, and thought a lot of the same things about it as you did: Thatbloggergirl.com
It was a really fun show, and she is a very talented designer.
I believe that all presentations should make a play .. would be completely new and exciting and intellectually. true?

What an inspired idea!
I loved the shoes too! I think (and hope since it would mean I could afford them) the patent flats and the slingback oxfords are from Urban Outfitters. But I like the saddle shoes even more. If only I could ID the little tags near the ankle.
