Dear Thakoon,

Kudos for trying new things! You took a risk with this collection—ditching the signature pretty printed dresses for more sedate separates—and it paid off. While your designs are consistently feminine, this show served up some tough pieces.

Baggy sweatpants, hooded jackets, woolly fur coats, draping sweaters and knee socks were some of my favorite items. Your delicate experiments with texture were irresistible, as I was even enamored with the few heavily ruffled dresses that you did show.

While this may not be the collection MObama had in mind, it is a collection that I really want to wear—over and over again. Love, Kate
