Urban Outfitters, Inc. has announced its evolution into the bridal industry; this will be the sixth concept under the Urban umbrella, joining Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People, Terrain and Leifsdottir.
The currently unnamed wedding brand will provide resources for brides-to-be, offering both event-focused attire and services like planning and styling advice. The collection is quite extensive: wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, shoes, jewelry, bags, intimate apparel, invitations, decorations and gifts will all be included. Prices for gowns will range from $750 to $5000, with dresses starting at $200.
The concept was developed by the same people behind the largely successful chain Anthropologie and is set to debut online in Spring 2011, though they do plan to open selects stores across the US.
Anthropologie co-president Wendy B. McDevitt said, “We have found that many brides-to-be are inspired by our aesthetic. Of course, this means something different bride to bride, but essentially she’s telling us that she wants a certain product edit that only we can provide.”
