Last night, Henri Bendel celebrated the launch of a new perfume line, Aromachology.
Founded by Kirsten Menkes and Ashlee Firsten, Aromachology explores l’arte du parfum. The line hopes to unite personality and scent with a custom-blended perfume. Clients complete a ten question “scent profile,” and based on their answers, they’re given a fragrance identity.
When I walked into the store, women of all ages were filling out their personality tests, drinking rose champagne and eating itty-bitty cupcakes. I was greeted by Kirsten, who took one look at my test and determined immediately that I was a floral.
Together we picked out my base-note; I chose a light scent called “Clean & Fresh” with hints of lemon, mandarin, grass and clean linens. The last step was to pick out three top-notes. I ended up picking just two: “Creative” and “Sensual”. Kirsten dabbed all three on my wrist to test; I approved, so she blended my signature scent into a small sample tube—a complimentary scent souvenir!
If you’re tired of your everyday fragrance, or picking something off of Sephora’s shelves, and want something far more personal, head to the Aromachology counter at Bendel’s where blending perfume has become a science.
