Diane von Furstenberg Will Design Rooms for Claridge’s

While some designers won’t rest until there’s a hotel with their name splayed on the front, Diane von Furstenberg is happy to remodel a few rooms in one of the most prestigious hotels in the world.

Starting in June 2010, guests at Claridge’s in London–a favorite of Kate Moss, Justin Timberlake and the late Alexander McQueen–will be able to stay in a series of rooms and suites designed by the reigning queen of the New York fashion scene.

Expect lots of color–and of course, prints–in von Furstenberg’s wing. We wonder though, why did she choose Claridge’s over a hotel in New York, or building her very own, ala Armani and Lagerfeld?

“One of my fondest memories was when I was in London as a young, independent businesswoman and stayed at Claridge’s. I knew I had made it,” said the designer. “To me, Claridge’s is the most glamorous hotel in the world; I regard it as my home away from home.”

Sentiment aside, we have a feeling this project may lead to the establishment of an interior design arm of the DvF business.
