Just after lunch, I headed down the block to the Reece Hudson showroom to take a look at their fall collection.
Reece Solomon and Max Stein launched the handbag line in 2009, and it’s been a hit ever since. They can’t seem to keep their bags on the shelves at both Castor & Pollux and Kirna Zabete here in NYC and have a debut look book by Tommy Ton to boot.
We talked about their plan to sell outside New York; Reece and Max hope to expand the line to California and Florida. And I was excited to hear that the two will also be working with a hardware specialist for their next collection, spiffing up the exterior and adding some weight to the bags—a smart move as we’ve seen what special hardware can do for a bag, e.g. Balenciaga’s Motorcycle and Alexander Wang’s Rocco.
Each bag is hand-crafted, made of super-soft leathers and exotic skins, and lined in cotton. I love the collection, particularly the envelope bags, which are large enough to hold everything you need. I can’t wait to see what’s next for the young label, but based on their early following, they have a very promising future.
