The premier of Lady Gaga and Beyoncé’s video “Telephone” last night rocked the pop culture world.

Aside from the incomprehensible plot and the platitude of product placement, including 1950s mainstay WonderBread, Gaga’s own headphones, and a dating website… the fashion in the video was truly the star.

Today, Nicola Formichetti, Gaga’s stylist (and genius in his own right), posted still images of the video on his blog, detailing the looks and crediting the designers.

Some are sheer brilliance, like Gaga’s Thierry Mugler ensemble. These are careful plays on what it means to be a pop artist in a truly pop society. Others are classic pop, like her studded bikini, embodying the volatile video star look.

Oh my god they did a Tarantino. Ah! *geeks out*

Love Beyonce and Gaga! Two great artists and style icons!

I was a little taken aback when I heard these two were collaborating. I mean, Beyonce is, well, BEYONCE. And Lady Gaga is just plain terrifying and bizarre. Their voices and music styles don't seem complementary to me, nor do their tastes in fashion, of course. But, you know, more power to 'em.

Steff! you rock for this :) just made my friday!

Referencing a director who copies other directors is like trying to polish a turd. Jackie Brown (the beginning scene), Pulp Fiction (Pumpkin and HoneyBunny at the diner) and Kill Bill (the Pussy Wagon) have all been done before. Where is that fucking dislike button?

“you've been a bad girl! a very very bad girl!…..mhmmm honey!” :x yummyah….amazing….I'm fascinated by this video…I loved the song before….but now….it's …OMG! @-)it's a real short film,it has a message,quality,great voices and a lot of inspiration,and it 's something new,it won't live you the feeling of…DEJA VU ! what more can you wish for?!visit my blog …. http://www.iscariotteh.wordpress.com

i do love them, but im not sure about this video. It's too long, and really weird. Gaga can do better…http://www.letyourstylespeak.com

I'm sorry, but who wrote this 'analysis' (mindless adoration) of her 'pop art'? Lets face it: this video is a disappointment. Totally overdone, corny in a non-ironic (aka bad) way, and frankly self indulgent and plagiarist. I'm embarrassed for Beyonce, who is usually above this kind of drivel. And Gaga: put some clothes on! Has anyone notices that she's lost a ton of weight in the last year? I get that your all exploring the clichés of postartdom and that includes nudity, but come on now, do you really have to be basically naked the entire video to get that point across? And just to note: I'm not a Gaga hater. I'm not on the mindless love train either, but some of her songs/videos/outfits amuse me, but this is just stupid…plus its an awful song to begin with. There are others on her new EP that are much catchier and could have lended themselves to better video narrative.

First, I admire and listen to Beyonce and Gaga all the time. And I love this song.In interviews, SNL, etc. however, Gaga has shown that her sense of humor is not her strongest asset, and Beyonce, we all know how hilarious she is in her movies. To put these two women in a video that is supposed to be clever and ironic I feel was kind of a mistake. Flight Attendant Britney's wink into the lens at the end of the Toxic video said more than all the hamming in this video. That said, it's a pretty cool video.

This video truly made my Friday… the costumes, espec. the americana and stuff right at the end in the floaty black and white are brilliant, and I love the story element of this following on from paparazzi. love 'em.

good video but “rocked the pop culture world”…i'm not that convinced.it's sad that they probably spent millions to come up with this video yet a low budget britney video like “sometimes” is still more iconic.now that rocked the pop culture world

I find it incredible how fast this woman climbed to the top! She's a trend setter. I love Telephone – it has a clear story and the fashion choices, especially Thierry Mugler!
