Bikinis might always reign supreme since most women find them more flattering. But it does feel like there are more choices out there in the maillot category these days.

What’s more, according to Google’s retail blog, the phrase “one piece swimsuits” is the fifth most popular search term in the category, while bikinis isn’t even trending. “One piece swimsuits and tankinis will be a hit this year,” predicts one Google blogger.

Have you changed your mind about one-pieces? Or will you stick to a bikini this summer?

I buy bikinis because I never liked the feeling of one piece of fabric connecting my crotch and shoulders. If I could find a comfortable one-piece then I would wear it, but for now I'm sticking with two pieces.

i don't like most of the one piece bathing suits because they look old fashioned. that's why i always buy bikinis. but there are some really nice ine piece bikinis. they don't cover the whole tummy, they look more like a bikini where the 2 pieces are connected by a small piece of fabric.

Try swankini swimwear Beautiful flattering and comfortable

I am crazy about one pieces right now – they look so modern and elegant, whereas a bikini screams “spring break” to me. Eres makes some beautiful (but pricey!) one pieces.

I love a good bikini but the sexiest bathing suit I ever owned was a J.Crew one-piece. If they still made that style I would buy it in every color.

I love that one-piece swimsuits are coming back into the fashion forefront. I'm a bit on the modest side, but I always felt like such an old lady donning a one piece among all the tankinis and bikinis on the beach. It's nice to see more fashionable options for those of us who aren't comfortable bearing our middles. :o)

We happen to love a good, retro-styled swimsuit. Or ones with perfectly placed cut-outs. Sure, the tan lines aren't as stellar as with a bikini, but one-pieces suits can be more fun to wear. Love our Abaeté ones from a few years ago the most.

Actually, this is very similar to what we've been discussing in our office on the subject of clogs (http://styledon.com/articles/to-clog-or-not-to-...) and jumpsuits – you know, items we love wearing even if our boyfriends hate them.

i always thought a good one piece was sassier. it all depends on the bust line and cut of the leg.

Everyone and their mom has the same VS bikini. I would only opt for a solid color at this point.

I do have a VS monokini that Megan Fox ended up modeling for some GQ-type magazine. :-(

I still think I look good in it though. I do hope that one-pieces don't become so popular that everyone ends up wearing them, and then I don't feel so special in mine :-/ lol

not all one pieces are ok….but an elegant one with a cute colour would make it:)…But I usually wear two pieces:)

As a fat woman, it's one piece all the way. In fact, because of my weight and the fact that skin cancer runs in the family I went ahead and had a suit cutom made with sleeves and shorts, then wear a skirt on top of that to hide my belly ridge.

Even if I was thin though I'd never wear a two piece. They are so NOT flattering, not even to skinny girls. For one thing most girls wear them way too small and it causes fake fat ridges. Then there are those who insist on wearing those dumb looking thongs. Ladies, take it from a girl with three older brothers, men like a little mystery. Save what your butt looks like for when he gets to unwrap it. Make it more special for him by letting him know he's the only one other then your doctor who gets to see your bare butt. Then there's the girls who are too thin. Yes, there is such a thing. No one wants to count your ribs. And if you're so thin and flat your chest in concave you don't belong in a bikini.

One pieces, always more flattering.

Besides, since it's a proven fact that exposure to the sun causes skin cancer – which can actually spread to other parts of your body, for instance my paternal grandmother died of a brain tumor that started as skin cancer and one of my mom's friends now has lung cancer that started as skin cancer – and premature aging, the more you cover up your flesh, the better.

So one pieces will help keep you from getting skin cancer in your belly button.

I personally prefer bikinis, but I can see the value in a one piece swimsuit. They obviously offer more support and coverage to women who don't necessarily want the whole world to see them practically naked. It is a nice alternative for girls who are tired of being gawked at while they harmlessly lay in the sun. And it is refreshing to see swimsuits that don't resemble lingerie, because that is just uncomfortable.

bikinis are practical- you get a better sun tan. But one pieces are beautiful, flattering, bring some drama and work wonders for those wayfarers you bought 2 years ago. not to mention the big sun hat (think rene russo in thomas crown affair).

Fashion is fickle minded like most people. One day it is the “in” thing then the next day it is already out. What is important is the woman who wears the swimsuit, i.e. if she is comfortable wearing it or not.

One piece bathing suits can look awesome, but they are cruel to those of us who are taller, and may have length in our torsos. I love a retro bathing suit but they never fit. Tiny bikini it is for me.
