Vanessa Bruno Wraps Her Way Around My Wardrobe
By Britt Aboutaleb
I think Vanessa Bruno’s my answer to Isabel Marant.
I love Marant, but it’s hard to see myself wearing her clothes head to toe. I probably lack a certain je ne sais quoi, but mix in some Vanessa Bruno and I’d have the perfectly French wardrobe every American girl’s after.
Yesterday, at the Palais de Chaillot in the Trocadero, Bruno showed a flirty fall collection with knits and silks layered atop one another. There were pleated shorts over loose knit thigh high knee socks with furry booties that one might actually wear and oversized bags paired with feminine dresses embroidered with silver chains.
It might be another case of my being blinded by the styling, because all I can think about is how I’m going to wrap a thin scarf around a chiffon dress and make it look chic instead of cheesy. Regardless, it’s a collection I look forward to seeing off the runway.

great as Isabel Marant is, it does have that “ooh, everyone's got those studded boots” quality – not something you want!
Agreed! I admire girls who can dress effortlessly in Marant but Vanessa Bruno is easier to carry off and I think is edgier Parisian chic. And her canvas sequined totes are so sophisticated.
