When Hanneli Went “Meow” at Miu Miu
By Britt Aboutaleb
I finally met Hanneli Mustaparta yesterday, the Norwegian model turned blogger who was featured in this month’s American Vogue with Garance, Tommy & co.
She was wearing Miu Miu’s giant white cat pin on the shoulder of her sleek black coat.
“I love your pin,” I gushed.
“Thanks! It’s Miu Miu,” she answered.
“I know! The whole collection was amazing.”
“When I went into the shop, I walked up to the counter, pointed at the pin and went, ‘Meow!’ [makes claw motions] and you know because it’s Miu Miu I expected them to be like [makes hoighty-toighty face], but instead the guy just looked at me and goes, ‘Meowww!’ [makes claw motions],” she explained.
Just when we thought Miu Miu couldn’t get any better.

It's funny, the brands I love always have really great SAs. I love hearing stories like this.
I went to the one boutique in the SoHo area and was not greeted with such great Sales Associates. In fact, I was not greeted at all. Upon walking in the store, I got sneered at and practically shunned out of the store. Assholes.
Is it just me or is anyone else completely sick of Britt doing these conversation-type posts with a gratuitous back and forth between herself and some fashion insider? It is glaringly obvious that you think you're funny and a barometer of what's cool in fashion, but it comes across as lazy journalism and shameless self promotion. PLEASE cut it out. It is beyond annoying to read.
i think it's pretty clear that I think Hanneli's the funny one, but feel free to skip to the next story. i'd hate to ruin your day.
mmm, i don't know “overitttttt”. i think the point is that hanelli is a little nuts, in a sweet way, and there's really no way to write up something like that. i think the conversations are fun inclusions that are otherwise left out of other journalistic-type outlets, and blogs should embrace their ability to include real-life bits of ephemera, and this is a good example. i mean, how would you have included this? an actual straight-up news style post? i don't think so.
i like the conversation type writings.
I agree. Britt, keep it up. I like the little side commentary from people. We don't get it in Vogue or Bazaar. It just goes to show that some people do still laugh and not everyone in the industry is some humorless fashion bot. Seriously, some of you people need to lighten up.
I love this conversation!! Hanneli seems like such a down to earth and fun person, that's not something you get everyday when your so beautiful as her.
