Rachel Bilson Is Now An Eyewear Ambassador for Sunglass Hut

While actual acting roles continue to elude Rachel Bilson, her fashion cred just keeps going and going.

Last year, she started penning a style column for InStyle, and now she’s been named Sunglass Hut’s first eyewear ambassador.

Her duties include the obvious—showing up to parties and starring in their ad campaign. But she’ll also be the company’s resident blogger (though they’ve titled it “Style Director”), tackling tough eyewear questions on SunglassHut.com and interviewing her eyewear style icons, including Tory Burch.

Bilson says, “I can’t say what makes me a good style adviser for them,” but Sunglass Hut’s CEO counters, “We wanted a symbol of our philosophy, somebody who’s familiar and relevant to our target [consumer], but at the same time was herself sunglasses obsessed.”

Rachel hopes to interview Karl Lagerfeld because, “he wears sunglasses at all times.”

At any rate, I will say that it was pretty stupid (for lack of a better word, at the moment) for Rachel, after just being appointed this position by the company (which comes with a hefty paycheck, no doubt), to say that she has no idea what makes her a good style advisor to them. She should have made up something grand and over-the-top to say about her new position.

Well Ian, she's not exactly the smartest person in the first place. You should read her interviews. But this is a good “job” for her. She's can't seem to get an acting job and mainly walks around being papped wearing cute clothes. Which is probably why she doesn't get jobs. But she's really into the fashion thing, so jobs like this are perfect for her. I don't think she'll ever get anything as big as let's say, a Burberry campaign or anything close to high fashion like her working, more successful peers get. But this is a good thing for her. It keeps her face out there.
