Domino and Spy Top List of Most-Missed Magazines: But What About Sassy?
By Lauren Sherman
Of all the magazines that have shuttered over the last 20 years, people miss home shopping guide Domino most, according to a new poll conducted by media site MinOnline. Spy, the satirical book created by Kurt Andersen and Graydon Carter, comes in second.
Rounding out the top five were Gourmet, Life and Metropolitan Home. But what about the plethora of fashion books who said goodbye in the last two decades?
Apparently there were some write-ins for Sassy, which is one of those magazines that fashion girls miss even if they were too young to read it when it was actually around.
I’d say Sassy would top my list, rounded out by Jane, ELLEGirl, Amelia’s and Blueprint. Fortunately, a couple of these still produce original content online, but most are gone forever.
Which magazine would you love to see resurrected?

Sassy, absolutely! Definitely Domino and Blueprint.
1. Jalouse USA
2. Preen
3. PopLife
Sassy was absolutely the best and smartest teen magazine that ever existed. It was my bible when I was in junior high and it totally inspired me to go into the magazine industry. Jane Pratt was my idol! Even now when I read Lucky, all I can think of is Andrea Linnett at Sassy! lol
I would definitely say Sassy and Jane. I remember in Middle School when my grandmother ordered a subscription to Sassy for my birthday…that's when my obsession with fashion magazines began! I still remember some of my favorite articles…I might even have some issues hiding under my bed somewhere
I agree that Sassy should be around still, also Vis a Vis was an especially good photo magazine and I also liked Joe Zee's Vitals – he hasn't really turned Elle around like I'd hoped.
The original Details used to be great when it was for women – really nice fashion coverage of shows.
Me too!
I was also always a big fan of Mademoiselle back in the day. And now I have fully aged myself! I am Sassy-nostalgic. I fully entered the reader-produced issue contest every year!
JANE magazine
Oh goodness I love ElleGirl so much. The craziest styles with an international twist. Getting my subscription in the mail was consistently the highlight of each month.
I was also a fan of Mademoiselle back in the day.
I loved Jane's travel guides! I still have the Montreal one that I ripped out, and I really regret not saving them all. If someone did an archive of those, I would be so happy. Of course, half the places are probably shut down by now…

Definitely agree with Preen.
Sassy for the win, but I also miss the original Allure. Remember when it used to be the “intellectual” mainstream beauty mag?
Teen People & YM. And the old Seventeen, which used to be much more mature than it is now.
YM! wow that brings back memories
Wow to YM too – loved it, Seventeen, and of course Sassy (and I was young enough to read it and appreciate it when it was around!) Totally remember that Johnny Depp cover!
I agree. I totally miss Sassy, Jane, and the old Seventeen. I totally forgot YM! which was stacked in a pile with Seventeen, Jane and Teen People under my bed from like 10-16
JANE, back when Jane was actually running it . . . after she left I stopped enjoying it.
The Face, Jane, Sassy, Mademoiselle, Liz Tilberis era Harpers Bazaar and yes original Allure – I can't bring myself to cancel my subscription yet in the vain hopes of it returning to it's original form.

Sassy! I loved that magazine. I remember feeling inspired by everything I read in that magazine. I was so excited to see that a mexican model, who looked like me, was considered pretty enough to be in the magazine-I was young back then so it meant so much to see that.
“The Face”
The very short lived “Suede”
The old “Nylon”
Sassy was and is my favorite magazine of all time. I was too OLD for it when it came out but I read every issue cover to cover. So smart and funny, and the fashions were so cool. I loved it like no other. I will never forget seeing Kurt Cobain's bright pink hair for the first time on the cover. Oh Sassy, how I miss you!!!
I know the average Fashionista reader probably ain't weeping over this, but personally I liked Nat Geo Adventure. On the other hand I was delighted when Reader's Digest canned that Rick Warren magazine last year, the idea of trees being chopped down to feather that nest was disturbing. Domino was good. Cargo wasn't, but I always thought the basic idea had potential if it was backed with a big-ass investment in curated online shopping for guys. Oh, and who can forget Shallow Water Angler… oh, I see, OK.
