Last month, the Fashionista staff waxed lyrical on our top movies from which to cull fashion inspiration.
Yes, Reality Bites and Working Girl are high up on my list of movies that influence my personal style. But last night, while watching the first few frames of 1995′s Kevin Smith masterpiece Mallrats, I realized something: It feels like the entire fashion world is currently inspired by Brandi, played by Claire Forlani.
Forlani first appears on the screen in a cropped heather grey sweater, oversize thick-rimmed glasses, a men’s watch and a pair of high-waisted Levis worthy of a Garance DorĂ© photograph. Later on, she’s slinks onto the scene in a white sheath–very mid-’90s minimalism.
Not to mention the actress’s shiny, wavy hair–which would look perfect in any decade. Lagging career aside, Forlani circa-1995 is down right enviable.

I saw Meet Joe Black on HBO a few weeks ago, Claire's chemistry with Pitt was off the charts…she's defintiely one of those people who really pulled off the 90's aesthetic.

I thought she was pretty good opposite Ryan Philippe in Antitrust
nasty advertisements guys. and nascar, really?
where do you live? sometimes certain ads appear depending on the location so I'm assuming you live in the south if you got Nascar
Claire's style in Basquiat was much better.
LOVE Claire Forlani!! though have to say that renee in mallrats is the best fashion inspiration… ie Brenda ie Shannen Doherty wearing an orange suede shirt with a strappy floral dress over a baby tee and military boots. it's brenda!
yes Shannen Doherty did give good style but why was Renee wearing like 5 different outfits in 1 day at the mall? I mean, its cool and all but I don't get that part
part of shannen doherty's contract stated that she could keep any clothes she wore on set…hence the frequent outfit changes
I live in the liberal, snooty Pac-Northwest. We don't have much Nascar here and I got the ad, too.
it's not location specific because i got blasted with the Nascar also.
I first noticed this kind of invasion over at style.com
Now, if I see something at the bottom getting ready to attack, I leave.
gross = lackluster 90's style.
hmmm..she is really inspireing , but I really don't like that jeans and grey sweater combination…
