A photo leaked today from Lady Gaga‘s Steven Klein directed music video for Alejandro.

We had great expectations for the video, but recycling a theme from a magazine editorial was not one of them.

There are boys with jet black bowl cuts, a dominant female figure, and a brooding, inscrutable mood.

Even stranger is the rumor that Lara Stone will appear in the Alejandro video, meaning that Steven recreated the shoot right down to the model.

Don’t get us wrong, we love Mr. Klein and we thought the W editorial was awesome, but why repeat a concept?

We can’t imagine that Lady Gaga would want to be associated with something old, either. Her love of newness and shock value do not make her seem like one to rely on an existing idea.

There will definitely be more themes in the video, so we’ll wait until its release to make any final judgments. We wouldn’t be opposed to a Steven Klein’s Greatest Hits theme at all; we just didn’t think Lady Gaga would be the one to do it.

Though Telephone was a Tarantino right down to the Pussy Wagon. Maybe Gaga’s new mantra is celebrating the artistic vision of others?
