Preppy? Style yours like Diane Keaton in Annie Hall. Grunge? Leave a dark, loose shirt open over a band tee. Hippie? Wear a long, relaxed button-down as a dress.

love a good shirt.
Has J.Crew always been selling things through net-a-porter? It seems weird to see J.Crew as a brand of clothing sold at other outlets than as a self-contained store. It's like seeing CVS brand stuff at Wal-mart or something.
I remember Jenna said in an interview that they were selling JCrew through Net-a-Porter because they're international.

My personal favorite is the Adam shirt paired with a perfect pair of black shorts. It would make a great outift for summer and it looks so comfortable!

A “button down” is a shirt with a button down collar (think Brooks Brothers). Shirts that have buttons down the front, a la a men's shirt, are called shirts, or dress shirts. Thinking also of Brooks Brothers, smaller people can fit into the larger sizes of their boy's shirts, thus saving mucho cash.
was scrolling down to make the same comment when i saw this…. the equipment silk button front shirts are fantastic – the silk is completely luxurious for the price point and they are in great neutral colors.
i love a button down, the choices are spot-on, but i'm kind of annoyed that you can't see all the options on one page- just a lil feedback.
I agree with Kat M, I found an amazing, kelly green, gingham, 3/4 length sleeve button down in a thrift store outside Palm Beach (land of Seinfeld's parents actually). The maker? Izod. And I always get compliments on it.
Excuse me, I like this blog, but I don't care for the format. The photos should be presented as a slideshow and the number of slides should be stated at the outset. I don't have time to click through these pages without any direction. How many shirts are featured? Five? 10? C'mon.
Not a way to win over readers.
I used to buy BB boys' shirts, but they really aren't shaped for women.
Also, the quality wasn't as good as that of the men's shirts.
Rag & Bone: I believe that's a “flap,” not a “vent.” Isn't that Fashion Terminology 101?
nice shirt
Thanks, you're absolutely right about the use of “button down.” They also said that a shirt with a large storm flap on the back was a “vent” (that's the opening in the back of a jacket or skirt).
Maybe people who are writing about fashion should know more than the average person? I think this is why fashion is not taken seriously — too many ignorant people who don't know the basics who focus on personalities and the most superficial aspects of the field.
