I spent last night at Adam Lippes‘ fabulous penthouse apartment in Greenwich Village.

The occasion? We (and when I say we, I mean myself plus a very smart-looking crowd, including Meredith Melling Burke, lovely in an pleated pumpkin-colored maxi dress) were invited to celebrate Lippes’ t-shirt collaboration with four young artists selected by the Whitney–Matthew Brannon, EV Day, Ellen Harvey and Phoebe Washburn. The tees, $48-$68, will go on sale this Thursday at noon on Gilt.com.

The comparison was inevitable. When Madonna’s 13-old-daughter starts blogging about fashion, it’s hard not to look to Tavi, the OG tween fashion blogging phenom.

Even Tavi knew it when she posted on Jezebel today, “I don’t like critiquing other fashion blogs because they’re usually personal style diaries about what the writer likes and wears and there’s no point in saying someone’s taste is wrong, and in this case especially, my doing so would just make people compare us to one another.”

Too late. We’re doing it anyway. But in a nice way, promise Tavi. And Lourdes has only written one post, so we’re aware that we’re limited in our means for comparison.

Double duty designer Jeffrey Monteiro recently shot his Resort 2011 look book on the streets of Nolita.

But instead of bringing in professional models, the veteran asked four of his friends to throw on some frocks and style them in their own special way. The final book will only feature a single interpretation of each look, but we thought it’d be fun to show you how three approached one. The star of this trio? Resort 2011′s Kuru dress.

Click through to meet the girls, and get a first look at the dress.

1. When Erin and Olivia are meeting with Joe Zee, why can’t Olivia get up and walk two steps to grab a notebook from Joe? We’re glad she refused to move so we could witness a deliciously frosty transaction between Olivia and Erin in which Olivia points at Erin and asks her to fetch the notebook for her in a tone we can only imagine she reserves for wait staff and her cleaning lady.

2. Foreshadowing much? How many times did Kelly Cutrone say “very” as in it would be a “very bad thing” if Roxy doesn’t get Whitney’s line on some random Canadian pop star? 15. We counted.

3. Jian, who produces Canadian pop sensation Lights, is, according to Kelly Cutrone, the “Ryan Seacrest of Canada.” What does that even mean?

4. Why does Prabal Gurung have such a soothing voice? We could listen to him say things like “burnt plastic pallettes” and “laser cut organza” all day in his elegant Nepalese accent.

Alexander Wang’s Freja bootie became an instant “it” shoe the second it hit the Spring 2010 runways.

So it’s no surprise that Kelsi Dagger (the juniors line from the designers behind Pour La Victoire) is putting out a very similar version for $185 (around $350 less than the Freja). And it seems Rachel Zoe has no qualms about endorsing a good knock-off – they’re one her “picks” on Piperlime.

Yesterday, I walked into the most magnificent apartment overlooking the grounds of the American Museum of Natural History and was greeted by a vision of loveliness, Tata Harper. Tata has launched a 100% natural skincare line. If she could bottle her own essence and sell it, she would make a fortune. She just had a baby three months ago and looks more stunning than Gisele did postpartum. Besides being green-eyed and blonde, she is also brainy; she was an industrial engineer in her native Colombia.

Tata conceived of and started the line five years ago after being unable to find products that she wanted to use. She wanted potions that were luxurious and 100% natural. She was “tired of putting cancer juice” on her skin. Now, while that is mildly sensationalistic, I’m totally on board with her concept of non-synthetic, plant-derived, almost entirely organic ingredients.

05 THE OUTSIDERS

Weather-wise, it’s finally starting to feel like summer, which, in NYC, is not always a good thing. This unbearable heat should make wool capes and shearling coats unfathomable, but this Topshop F/W ’10 stuff looks so comfy and cute. We’re ready to bundle up.

With Topshop, no season comes without a theme. This season, there are four: Hi Performance, Out of the Wild, Dark Nouveau, and The Outsiders. We are especially fond of the post-apocalyptic, animalistic elements of Out of the Wild and classic-with-a-twist feel of The Outsiders. We are also pleased with the lack of florals, harem pants and studs.Oh, and we’re really digging the shoes.

Our favorite looks:

Get a Clue: L.A. boutique Confederacy has teamed up with Francisco Costa to reproduce and sell the iconic white Calvin Klein dress that Alicia Silverstone wore in Clueless. (Recall the scene between Cher and her father: “What the hell is that?” “A dress.” “Says who?” “Calvin Klein.”) The dress will be sold online and in-store for $915. We’re, like, totally excited. {Daily Front Row}

Taylor-Made: Rachel Zoe’s former assistant Taylor Jacobson is now working as Kate Beckinsale’s stylist. It’s a high profile gig for Jacobson. Last thing we heard, she was consulting for denim line Kasil. Maybe her former boss won’t be so harsh now. {Hollywood Life}

The Teacher As Student: You probably wouldn’t expect the Editor-In-Chief of Marie Claire to be taking her cues from haul vloggers Blair and Elle Fowler (ages 16 and 21, respectively), but that’s exactly what she did. Check out Coles’ “What’s In My Bag” spoof vlog. {Marie Claire}
