We love affordable, chic handbags, and that’s what label Navoh says it’s all about: Faux leather handbags priced at $125 and under.

But we’re not okay with blatant knockoffs.

We just don’t get why Navoh would bother out-n-out copying Proenza Schouler’s famed PS1 for its Fall 2010 collection. It’s literally the same exact bag in a cheaper material, from the colorways to the hardware.

Proenza Schouler isn’t a big company–and the boys make most of their money off of their genius accessories.

So copies like this are a huge deal. And downright shameful, in our opinion.

Navoh has also done an obvious re-imagining of another hot messenger bag, Mulberry’s Alexa, down to the braided handle. It’s not as exact as the Proenza copy, but it’s pretty close.

Really, we’re shocked that Navoh left Alex Wang alone.

I'm not seeing either of these bags on the Novah website, is it possible they've removed them over this coverage? Seems a little touchy, considering there were definitely already aware.

I did notice two bags named the Mulberry Beige and the Mulberry Black, but they didn't look like Mulberry bags that I recognize.

These are from the Fall collection, which I should have mentioned in the story. They're not in stores yet, maybe they'll never be…

Yes, they're similar, but not exact copies. They're probably just 'inspired' by them…and I don't want to hear any BS about how it's ok for designers to be inspired/copy things, but not for mass market manufacturers to do it. It's not like the designer bags are super original or something that only a 'genius' could come up with. When will this insanity end? I'm glad the copyright laws don't protect utilitarian things, otherwise designers would be protecting everything from sleeve length to collar shape and button placement!

it does look painstakingly similar – YES. but the fact remains that the ps1 is not exactly a groundbreaking style, it's been done before. in fact, the mulberry alexa is almost the same shape too.

You're right, the shape is a classic, but the details are what make the PS1 and the Mulberry bestsellers. And they are super, super similar.

i'm loving the return of these super classic satchel bags because it's such a refreshing contrast to the wang & minkoff stud circuses. the alexa and the ps1 will remain stylish for years… can't say that about the wang coco/rocco.

Yes, let's hope this serves as a wake-up call, because judging by what I saw for sale on their site, they are otherwise a good retailer. They're producing economical bags that have a chic simplicity that lines up with the price-point, it would be a shame if they threw away that niche in order to chase after high-end designs.

Yes, Lauren is right on both bags.

I wish every girl can carry the black python PS1.

The beauty of the PS1 and the Alexa is that they are classic styles that are in themsleves, unoriginal. They won't date so could be considered worth the money – if you have the money. I have 10-15 year old no-name high quality leather satchels from Morocco that would now look like 'knockoffs' of them. They certainly weren't the same price. Who is copying who?

You never mentioned how blogger Karla from Karlas closet basically copied this bag too for her design for Coach

hahaha.. yeah i just went on and saw kooba, be&d and lanvin knockoffs as well..

I'm just surprised that Lauren thinks these Navoh bags will hurt the PS1 or Mulberry. Anyone who wants to get an $100 bag either gets the knockoff or turns to Ebay.

It's unfortunate that it's so exact in it's interpretation, but because the materials are not the same, I doubt that Mulberry or PS1 is really hurting.

I agree with you bongenre. They should just learn from this and go back to selling their own bags, which frankly are not bad at all for their price.

The copies look pretty miserable next to the originals.
