Louis Vuitton

Still riding the Takashi Murakami wave, Vuitton’s beach towel is bright and cute for the shore. That is, if you have an extra $890.

so much of this stuff is so ridiculous. it's one thing to pay $300 for a well made piece of clothing or shoes, but to blow that on an octopus key chain just because of the brand? people really buy these kinds of things?

unfortunately, people really do buy a lot of this stuff. some of it, i understand. like the chanel bike, but the pucci keychain does seem incredibly ridiculous.

but the people that buy stuff like that generally don't know what else to spend their money on.

I love the Lanvin stamps and if I lived in France, I would have totally sprung for them. An LV towel? Not so much.

Great list ! Kanye is spelt wrong though

SO….Ummmm…I have a friend who wants the Jeremy Scott condoms. Where would he buy those?

They sell them at Opening Ceremony!

Yes, nothing makes my day like paying over $800 for a towel. Sorry, couldn't help myself, but that is just a bit ridiculous in my book.

I'm pretty sure Opening Ceremony sells them–or you should look on http://properattirecondoms.com/

Once you start lusting after the branded and logoed stamps, pencils and teabags, you are no longer being fashion-minded. You've just reached simple label whore status. Sadly, I think we'll always have the aspirational shopper to float the fashion industry and finance their more costly products (i.e., couture). While I understand that branding is what drives the industry, I just think it's plain stooopid for people to want something for the logo's sake. Just save your money for stuff that you'll keep for a while and possibly hand down to your kids.

Yeah, I thought the point of (some of) these was so that people who can't afford a Prada dress can get themselves a little piece of Prada. If I don't have enough for a Prada dress, you can bet I don't have $300 for a grocery bag (or $900 for an effing towel).

I've collected a lot of these designer stamps over the years, both used and new ones. My colleagues in Paris knew who to give them to! ;) I even wrote a blog about it recently:

I can bring you some from Paris when I go back there.
