First Look: Mark Fast for Topshop

Tuesday, Jun 15, 2010 / 8:41 AM

Mark Fast for Topshop will finally hit stores June 25! Fast used his SS09 ready-to-wear collection as inspiration for the five-piece line, which ranges from ₤85 for a skirt to ₤150 for a dress, (that translates to about $100 and $185, respectively).

We’re pining for the lilac crochet dress covered in tiny holes, but the real star is quite obviously the black long-sleeved dress with matte, rubberized beading. There’s also a pale pink skirt–perhaps for the less daring–and a black sleeveless dress that almost shimmers.

Click through to see the looks. Our question is: Will you put down some cash for Fast?

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this collection. It looks like something Miley Cyrus and Taylor Momsen would wear, which is quite off-putting.

Looks a little Rodarte maybe? (I think it's just the last dress though.) I desperately want the 3rd dress!!

I love the lilac skirt. I don't know if I would go out and buy it though.

the dresses are priced at 300$ for topshop US not $185.

LOOK 5 IS HOT THOUGH. LOOKS QUALITY. WITH SOME FIERCE KNOCKIN' GLADIATORS AND SUMMER HAT, IT REEKS OF INDIE FEST WITH EDGE GALAVANTING TO ME…

I just used exchange rates here, not US pricing–if that's the case, then I'm definitely going to buy them in the UK, not here!

I agree. I'm having a hard time buying anything at Topshop these days. Topshop and I believe most UK retailers in the US (i.e. french connection, all saints) feel they can literally double the price by replacing the pound sign with a dollar one. Obviously, that's not fair and I guess it's the status quo for foreign (non-global) retailers. I exchanged a dress in NY that was bought in Oxford Street and they refused to give me cash back, knowing full well that I would be given $100 for a 50 pound purchase, which would give me back nearly 30 extra dollars with the current exchange rate. I don't think the exchange rate has been 2:1 since 2007.

this stuff is incredible. the black dress u have up as the main picture is crazy sexy. ultimate peek-a-boo dress. Mark Fast has really blown up huh???? all the it girls are wearing his dresses and then he made that move with the plus sized models on the runway….go Canadian designers!
