Forever 21′s new Times Square flagship opens today, and we got a sneak peak inside last night.

First impression: The store is ENORMOUS. There are four very brightly-lit floors chock full of fast fashion totaling 91,257 square feet of retail space. That makes Forever 21‘s Times Square location the largest single brand apparel store in Manhattan. To drive the point home, there is, no joke, a real life taxicab on the bottom floor. (For you intrepid New Yorkers looking to participate in the store’s opening day festivities, or snag one of the 1,000 gift certificates valued up to $210, the store is located at 1540 Broadway.)

After we stopped gaping at the sheer size of the place, we took a little tour of the four floors, stopping at specially designated “shopping stations” where we snagged a super soft caution-tape patterned racer-back tank designed by Brian Lichtenberg, and an adorable printed tank designed by Danny Roberts. (The Brian Lichtenberg tank goes on sale in July, the Danny Roberts tank is available now.)

FashionToast’s Rumi Neely is the poster girl for the new flagship, and she was on hand last night with her photographer/boyfriend to, from what we could tell, look hot and pose sulkily.

Despite the store’s massive size, 151 dressing rooms, and 32 registers, it is, after all, Forever 21, it’s in Times Square, and we’re sure it will be a mob scene in no time.

Ugh….disgusting. I can only imagine what the closing/evening staff is going to have to contend with for the next (AT LEAST) 8-12 months (and beyond).

How ambitious of Forever 21.

When I heard this was going to happen years ago, I was actually thoroughly surprised. It just seemed odd. Why not an H&M? But, hearing about these designer collabos, I'm not all that bothered anymore. But, yes, Ian closing is going to be a bitch for a while. It's like that for EVERY Forever XXI I've ever been in. It's a hell storm. Plus, their return policy sucks.

Why my picture no show up here?

And yes…Zack. It's gonna be nasty…..ESPECIALLY the first few months. It's a BRAND new store, and everyone's gonna be trying to get a feel for things, literally and figuratively. Ugh…a mess.

There is a large F21 right on Market street in San Francisco, across the street from the Powell st. Trolley terminus … it is always a nightmare; clothes strewn about, clogged dressing rooms, insane lines at the register, merchandise EVERYWHERE… i can only imagine what the Times Square store will look like.

Yeah it's hard to even shop in the powell st SF store, I can't imagine trying to fight bitches for clothes at the Manhattan store! I bet I'd even get LOST haha

There are 32 registers, but it always seems like there aren't 32 people to be working them. Forever 21 seems so chill about having clothing in the proper place even in the smaller stores. I'd be sick thinking about trying to find anything in that place. Hopefull they'll be much more strict about that.

It's honestly not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I probably had to wait 5 minutes at both the fitting room line and the checkout. There were a lot of people there but the store is so massive that it doesn't feel different than any H&M in this city. Plus, if you go late (the store IS open until 2am), I can imagine it'd be better than in the daytime.

seriously, its F21, not nordstrom….my expectations are so low, they don't exist which is why once in a while I am pleasantly and happily surprised when I find something nice there.

Sorry, but Forever 21 is a blight on Fashion industry…There should be a big effort to make people aware of where all their clothing comes from, how it is made, who makes it, everything from who is exploited to what the hell happens to all this stuff when it's tossed! The mounds and mounds of garbage….basically it's garbage in- garbage out.

Completely agree! I've been in their regular stores and they are DESTROYED by noon. Having worked in retail and closed a store, I understand what it takes for a normal store. But a 90,000 square foot one. I couldn't do it.

This is truly a great point!
