Every summer New York’s Governors Island hosts a couple Jazz Age lawn parties, where orchestras play and people dance, dressed to the nines in 1920s-inspired garb.
(Sometimes, it’s actual vintage from that era. See this image from 2008′s celebration, courtesy of the Sart, for proof.)
Several Fashionista contributors are planning on heading out to the other island this weekend, so we decided to round up our favorite Jazz Age-inspired pieces. These are fun to wear regardless of the occasion.

I loathe twenties themed parties; people are always coming into the vintage store that I work at and demanding that I provide them with a 20's dress in perfect condition that fits them and costs less than $40. I want to backhand them.
That Empire lingerie set is cute.

WoW…I like “Phillip Lim Beaded Flapper Mini Skirt” and Crinkled Chiffon…it suits me a lot.. :)
The vintage pieces mixed with others, in the accessories or clothes, can be a intersting look, personal and unique. The secret is the certain combination to work well. An inspiration, no doubt!

Grammyweezy….same here! I've ended up investing in a few higher end repros for specific times of the year when there are Gatsby events to have something to offer. That said, looking over the recent article with actual images of the even I saw quite a bit of real vintage and I do a pretty brisk biz online selling to women going to events just like this who do want to invest in a good vintage piece. Its nice to see people embrace the look of the theme but make it their own, mixing modern *with* vintage.
