We’ve got more dirt on the Erin Wasson and RVCA break-up.
According to sources inside the company, RVCA dropped Erin Wasson because her team was too hard to work with. “Total chaos and the epitome of unorganized,” according to one person we spoke with. We know, what a shocker.
The Costa Mesa, Calif.-based skate brand–which as we mentioned yesterday, was acquired last week by behemoth Billabong–will be focusing more on its other collaborations, like the one with Fashion Toast’s Rumi Neely. Funny thing is, Neely is essentially a Wasson knock-off, at least when it comes to personal style.
We finally heard back from Erin’s team; they have “no comment.”
Erin Wasson is gorgeous….but the very first time I heard her speak I was absolutely and utterly turned off. Meh….
If you really look at fashiontoast, you could see that Rumi's style is quite different from Erin's… A sylphlike, gothic counterpoint to Erin's disheveled chic, if you will.
I trust you Peter, so I will look at Fashiontoast for a couple of days. :)

I'm going to so agree with verseastyle! Kristin is awesome, dude, love her, her style, her posts on bleachblack, her work, everything. Erin and Rumi both have awesome style and personalities but they are very different! I mean I'm sorry Lauren, but you say “The 25-year-old Neely’s success can be credited to her highly-constructed photo shoots” but that really isn't the point, the point is she is a breathtaking style inspiration. I lost count of how many pictures I have of her in my computer under a file named 'style' that I look at everyday to inspire myself, because I live in Brazil and I don't identify with my city's “traditional style” that much. All of these girls have their own thing going and whatever they throw on looks amazing because they make it look amazing. They have confidence. And dissing on other bloggers that have so much talent just looks absolutely ridiculous. Sorry, just an opinion.
Rumi has said she loves Erin, why does that mean she is a copycat just because she has muses and icons that she looks up to…….. doesnt mean she is COPYING, everyone is essentially copying someone else. who is original anyways? isnt it that famous quote: a true artist is the one that steals but makes it their own?????
I also don't think that a website/glorified blog that hopes to be at all credible should include “news” articles with such an apparent bias just to spark a comment war. I don't care what you think of Rumi Neely's style unless your name is Olivier or Carine.

Regardless of this whole inane “She rulez, she's a poseur!” conversation going on, as someone with a SO who works in house at RVCA all I can say is that the Erin Wasson line was a nightmare for all involved. People inside are breathing a sight of relief that that debacle is being put to bed.
Hopefully the next “x” endeavor will be better run by all involved.

According Friday's WWD paper, the rumors are false!! RVCA said that Erin will always be part of the family. Also RVCA will not be taken over by billabong..

Ugh, seriously? Fashion survives on exchange and influence. Every style builds upon another and true originality is a myth (Erin Wasson 'copied' Bliss Lau too if you want to get down in the dirt). It's one of the few industries (unlike music, art, lit) that has minimal copyright laws and I, for one, think it's better for it.
