Is anyone still (years later) appalled about Vera Wang for Serta?

Yes! A glaring omission. Thanks for reminding me!

i wish you guys were snarky like this more often. seriously.

The snark is always good here.

i would have been impressed if the cynthia rowley diapers were cloth ones

nothing out of the ordinary about Lacroix doing uniforms. Most airlines get high end fashion designers to do their uniforms, as do other companies, for years. Ferre did Korean Airlines, Balmain did the shoes for Singapore Air, Richard Tyler did the Delta uniforms, etc. Come on now!

Very true, but Lacroix–the designer–has always been very against commercial efforts. Lots of designers create uniforms, but to have the master of couture doing it? Not so common.

what about Givenchy for Singapore Airlines?

mmmm….much more high end couturiers have done it before him and will do it after him. Lacroix is in fact a step down! Christian Dior and Cristobal Balenciaga both had the job before him. Miuccia did the unifroms for the Italian Pavilion Expo. Lacroix commercial efforts are nothing new, he did a collection for La Redoute 3 years before the unifroms….

i mean really just google it.
Christian Lacroix did a water bottle with Evian in 2008
Fragrances with Avon in 2007
collaborations every chance a cheque was offered. Internet journalism still needs to be responsible!!!!!

Just because other people have done it doesn't mean we don't think it's weird. This story is an opinion piece! (Also, to compare Prada to Dior and Balenciaga is hilarious.)

What's more, Lacroix–the brand–has been exploited plenty, but the designer himself is very anti all this stuff. And that's what I was talking about in my first response.

Gwen Stefani did uniforms for W Hotel staff. She's not high end imho, but still a collaboration…

Obviously, folks got BILLS to pay!
