Things You Can Only Get Away With Wearing When It’s This Effing Hot
By Leah Chernikoff
It is really effing hot out right now. And it looks like it’s going to stay that way for a while. Temps soared to 99 degrees in New York yesterday and we’re supposed to hit triple digits (and maybe even break the record high of 101) today. Even Mary Sunshine would be hard pressed to put a positive spin on this oppressive heat wave, but we thought of one thing: It’s sort of the only acceptable time to walk around half-naked (not that anyone would look twice if you did walk around naked in New York).
So. We put together an assortment of breezy frocks, cropped tops and the tiniest hot pants that look (only slightly) less ridiculous in this heat. It’s not all American Apparel, promise.

Sometimes I wear things that fit into this category, and I usually don't notice until I'm getting hollered at left and right.
HOTTT
SERIOUSLY, this is not for the working woman who has a half way decent job, SERIOUSLY!!!
I feel that I wear some of these things anyways. And the others I do not, probably shouldn't be worn anyways, even if it is hot. (Mesh Tank Top, I'm looking at you…Another item AA should discontinue.)
Ah, but if you have a halfway decent job, it is usually in an air conditioned office, is it not? We unemployed can not only get away with this, but actually MUST be mostly naked lest we die of heat stroke and dehydration in our A/C-less, sweltering apartments.
Is anyone else getting annoyed that you have to click 17 effing times to see all the items? Seriously hate this format fashionista.com…don't you guys have some sort of grid/thumbnail view?On another note, LOVE crop tops.
Yes, I would like to see a separate pop-out window with a slideshow.
More so than any other year, I have seen more sheer/see-through/clingy tops/bottoms. Please have a friend look at you in the sunlight before you strut your shit down the NYC catwalk because some of you leave nothing to the imagination. Also, I can't stress this enough, do something about the visible panty line.

i know, i wish i could get away with wearing this little, but don't think i'd have a job left if i did!….if you're interested, i started an 'office style' blog since there really aren't many out there and some of us still like to wear fashionable clothing even though we work in drone-like conservative environments (theworkinggirlesq.blogspot.com).

aa shorts should only be worn by dancers, and not outside of the studio. and can i ask the obvious question of why there aren't any jersey summer dresses in this list? like anyone else with a real job, i couldn't wear any of these things to work and maintain a professional appeal – jersey dresses are the only thing that get me through the heat.also, completely agree on the 17-slide situation…ever heard of a slideshow?

Lots of tight things on this list – not really very cool. The Alexander Wang silk shirt was most on track. How about looser things in natural fibres (that breathe as opposed to synthetics that don't) and in light heat refective colours. There is a reason why you don't see bedouins in tight shorts (well, lots of reasons!)
We want to create a sweet slideshow tool, and we're working on it, but it's taking a while. It will happen at some point–thanks for being patient!
Nevermind, the pop-out window is not a good idea, keep it within the page. This format is clean and there's less disruption from alot of movement…http://www.gq.com/style/week-in-style/201007/we...
