10 Questions for the Rachel Zoe Project

Wednesday, Aug 25, 2010 / 4:32 PM

1. Was Rachel’s conversation with Oscar backstage a conversation or a press interview? The vibe was very there-are-a-lot-of-cameras-pointed-towards-us-so-we-need-to-say-things-to-each-other.

2. This is just a suggestion, but why couldn’t Rachel and Roger just pretend their anniversary isn’t during fashion week and celebrate it before or after instead of complaining so much about how they can’t spend time together? Don’t people do that?

3. Why is everything a “moment?” Seriously, Rachel and Brad said the word “moment” at least 7 times during the episode, including:

“White Moment” – something Rachel dies for, natch, and that Cameron is also known to love.

“Princess Moment” – Rachel referring to ODR’s collection and something Cameron hasn’t had in a while

“Anti-black Moment” – Rachel referring to what Demi apparently needs to have (which may have worked, as Demi rocked a purple printed mini dress on Regis & Kelly this morning).

“Whoever decided the stages should be white just fucked up my whole moment!” – Brad, um, having a moment.

4. Did hairdresser Joey just refer to Taylor as a tumor, as in “I feel like a humongous tumor has been taken out of Rachel Zoe?” Roger definitely compared dealing with her to negotiating with terrorists a few episodes back. So now she’s more like a humongous tumor. Alright.

5. I kind of want Rach and Rodge to have kids but can you really picture Rachel as a mom? I mean, picturing her pregnant is one thing but she literally rolled her eyes when her sister mentioned play dates. But, then she said, “I die for kids.” We’re assuming this means she likes them?

6. Couldn’t they have filmed Roger having that Rachel Zoe Barbie being made instead of this awkward scene at Kiki de Montparnasse with Rachel’s sister? With the sister’s incessant nervous laughter and Roger’s constant expression of disgust at the site of everything in the store, I literally wanted to die. Also, was that sales girl deliberately trying to make both of them uncomfortable with that vibrator demonstration?

7. Can we please learn more about what Rachel was like in 1998 and what happened to her between then and now? Didn’t she look adorable in that honeymoon video? The hair may not have been the best but she looked half her current age and had a total Jennifer Aniston meets Sarah Michelle Gellar thing going on.

8. What was with Roger saying he didn’t think she was even going to have a career back then and that she had no idea what she was doing? Harsh, no? At least he’s proud of her for being on QVC.

9. Is Brad slowly turning into Rachel? For one, he sported Rachel’s signature robe look more than once during the episode. Second, he admitted to packing something like three suitcases of clothing for fashion week (Rachel, too, has a penchant for overpacking). Third, he seems to have gotten a tad more melodramatic. Not in the omg Taylor yelled at me and I can’t take it anymore way of last season but in the new, sassy, I’m so pissed at the Oscars set designers for standing in the way of Cameron’s white moment way.

10. How gorgeous was that Marchesa dress that needs to be on one of Rachel’s clients? So. Gorgeous.

I mean, that Marchesa was modified and worn by Sandra Bullock to the Oscars, right? Or am I not right? It looks really similar and obviously none of Rachel’s clients wore it, so I am saying yes.

Is it physically possible for Rach to get pregnant? She’s so emaciated I doubt she even has her period. Maybe she can adopt?

I thought the same, Camina. I don’t think Rachel gets the dress because it was given to whoever styled Bullock. I believe that will be on next week’s episode. That dress looked better before the modifications. Though it still looked great on Sandra. :)

I’ve noticed this season has a lot of ‘awww poor rodger’ moments. He’s got to put himself on the sidelines for Rachel. But you can honestly see that he loves rachel and that rachel loves him.

I’ve been saying this all along! Girl needs to eat like 3,00 pierogies before she can conceive.

Marc is so not Rachel’s best friend.

All questions are really very very important, and i am quite happy to read this.

i find all the taylor bashing tiresome and ridiculous. She was a genuine contributing member of the team but i suppose they have to ratchet up the drama factor a whole lot (it replenishes their electrolytes.) That aside, rachel looks so much better with her hair pulled back!!

Yes – that is true (maybe in episodes to follow we will get the inside scoop why she did not get)

Hey, I’m just glad Brad has stopped crying.

I miss old Brad (even if old Brad was influenced by Taylor). Seriously, some of us have to buy Micheal Kors on sale at Saks because THAT’S WHAT WE CAN AFFORD!!! It just seemed like a really mean comment, esp for someone who presumably spent some time toiling for perhaps the not greatest paycheck in order to get to where he his now…..

And some of us have to wait until the Michael Kors stuff that didn’t sell at Saks gets dumped off at deep discount stores like Gabriel Brothers or TJMaxx before we can afford it. Just sayin’…

Yea, that comment bothered me, it was extremely rude.

Yes, I thought that was weirdly mean. I think I have said things just like that, but I always feel badly after, first of all, and secondly, I am not on a TV show in which the point is to make a person who has been generally disliked in the media and public opinion (Rachel, not Brad) appealing enough to have an “empire” or “be a brand”, something I think the show has been incredibly successful in accomplishing so far, aside from that little hiccup. I do think Brad said that in a moment when he was still pretty pissed off, though. Plus he is really cute and handsome.

You know, as much as Taylor was such a bitch, Brad is lazy. All he ever does is frolic with Rachel and play dress-up, but how much work does he actually do? That Haiti fashion show made me SO STRESSED OUT because there was literally nothing in the room a day before the show and all Brad could say was “No one is giving us anything”. YOU STRAP ON YOUR SNOW BOOTS AND YOU GO KNOCK ON DOORS AND GET ANYTHING YOU CAN. And if that doesn’t work, then you can say there’s nothing else you can do…

Oh and as far as Brad’s “moment” getting “fucked” by the white stages is ridiculous. Derek Lam at the Oscars? I’m not so sure about that… And “moment” is the styling lingo word du jour, right in front of “situation”, so obnoxious.

i have to admit, i haven’t seen this ep yet. it’s on my dvr but completely agree w the brad comment about him being lazy. complain, complain, complain – at least when taylor did it, it was funny. i miss her and cringe when anyone on the show talks about her and she can’t even defend herself. i don’t believe she took clothes or money. something about Rodger seems shady to me.

I’m kinda over the Bing commercial awkwardness, but is it really 80 degrees in New York during Fall fashion week? And are Rachel and Rog’s flights really $312? Let’s strive for realism, people.

@Jboogie06: Guess what? Just did a search…I don’t know how Sandra Bullock acquired the dress in the first place, but her step-daughter is credited for helping Sandra narrow down her Oscars dress choice to the Marchesa. ;o) Very interesting… Sandra is SO no-thrills…
