Gaga, Diane Kruger, and Carey Mulligan Top Vanity Fair‘s Annual Best Dressed List
By Lauren Sherman
Vanity Fair‘s 2010 International Best Dressed List was released today, and it’s a mishmash of the obvious–Michelle Obama, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy–and the odd: Stacey Bendet Eisner, Dylan Lauren. (We know they look fine–but really, are they the best dressed in the world?)
Most Notable:
Cindy Leive, Glamour Editor-in-Chief
While Leive is known for her awesome editing skills, her style chops have yet to be tested. Could this be the beginning of her grooming for Vogue?
Nora Ephron, Writer
We love Ephron’s words, but we also love her Jil Sander wardrobe.
Waris Ahluwalia
Not only does Waris have impeccable style, he’s also a lovely person.
Most Missed (Really, how could VF have left these names off the list?)
Chloƫ Sevigny
She’s consistently stylish, with plenty of individuality to boot.
Alexa Chung
Half the world dresses like her. Does that mean nothing?
Tonne Goodman
Her Michael Kors skirt and blouse at the CFDAs deserved a nod.
Who is your pick for best dressed in 2010?

What about Anna Dello Russo? Giovanna Battaglia? Lauren Santo Domingo? Are we so over them?
None of them were on there–crazy, right?
I always confuse Dylan Lauren and Ricky Lauren. Ricky has got to be the worst dressed woman who wears only Ralph Lauren.
I am so far most impressed with Princess Mary of Denmark, but I hope Kate Middleton isn't lurking later in the list.
LSD has fantastic taste and is so poised. Leigh Lezark is a living breathing work of fashion and style notoriety….
She's not!
Yes! Why is there no Chloƫ? Michelle Obama's style is plainer than wheat toast. Ugh. She's always being squeezed in Best Dressed lists.
Princess Letizia of Spain and the Duke de Feria if the list wanted to really show fashionable people.
If someone could take the belts away maybe I'd go along with Michelle Obama.
You forgot to mention people with genuine style who are daring, innovative, ingenious and inspiring who make mixing vintage.indie designers and haute couture an art form.(instead of looks straight out of a magazine. Here is my list:
Rachel Zoe (come on can't we give her some credit for sequins and the boho chic revival)
Kate Moss: effortless chic and impeccable taste (ever seen her in a bad outfit?)
Janelle Monae: not many could pull her look off that is why she is so brilliant (ah hemm oxford craze) Daphene Guiness: one of the few women left on earth to rival the fashion bravura of Marchesa Casati.
WHERE THE HELL WAS DAPHNE GUNINESS?!?!?!?!!?!
Princess Letizia is the chicest royal I can think of. Surprising she's not there since it's so heavy on the royals who aren't famous. I'm just glad there is no token inclusion of the British Royal Family, the best-dressed woman over there is Camilla.
If you think Daphne is a fashion plate, you should read about her grandmother's generation. She and her sisters were some of the most remarkable women of the 20th century, but they aren't famous in America at all. Daphne's great-grandmother was friends with Boldini, the artist who painted Casati and inspired Georgina Chapman.
Merci Bongenre for your thoughtful comments. I am a fan of Georgina, of course. I would love to research Daphne’s family history. I actually went and checked out the rest of the VF list. I was baffled to say the least, but when I saw Helena B. Carter on the list I almost regurgitated my breakfast. Whenever I see her outfits my eyes hurt.
Amazing stuff,Thanks so much for this! This is very useful post for me. This will absolutely going to help me in my projects .
