Tim Gunn‘s scathing words for Isaac Mizrahi almost make us wonder, “Is he effing with the media?”

Today in the Daily News, the Liz Claiborne Chief Creative Officer said that the label’s former creative director Mizrahi really is a “terrible, terrible, terrible person.”

Here’s the back story. Mizrahi joined Liz Claiborne from Target in 2008, soon after Gunn joined. Despite rave reviews, Mizrahi’s gently–but not cheaply–priced collections for the company did not perform that well at retail. To combat weak sales, LC has since teamed up with JC Penney to create a discount collection. Mizrahi has been relegated to designing a collection exclusively for QVC.

So they have a history. But Gunn’s tough words also make us wonder how long he has at Liz Claiborne.

Even if LC feels the same about Mizrahi, we doubt that they would be cool with Gunn spewing hate across the press. They are, after all, a public company.

also, ***Even if LC was about to feels the same about Mizrahi

My eye bucked at that, too. LOLZ…

TIm was my dept. leader at Parson’s pre-Project Runway. I can honestly say he is a very respectful kind person, and he never forgets a name or face. He is not the lying kind,he is a very honest man,who inspired all students to reach for the stars while keeping your head down to earth. I look forward to reading his new book.

I know, I am very slow today. Sorry guys!

I know, I’m sorry

dude, he’s probably right about isaac. he’s def. sticking around at liz claiborne. they need him too much to let him go! whatever, he’s working with them for FNO so he’ll at least be there till then…

Agreed! He is the sweetest, kindest, most dignified. Am inclined to believe him.

Love Tim and he is harsh in words sometimes but he’s honest. He shocked me in the Project Runway season 8 episode 4 with the six designer per team challenge when he lash out at Gretchen. still love him!!

Mr Gunn is a true Gentleman and IM should have stayed at Target. The one that should have been canned from LC is Bill McComb.

I liked the IM line for LC – it was very fresh and vibrant. I don’t think it is fair to judge any designer by sales in 2008 – the impact of the recession was huge. Tim Gunn’s outburst is unwise. It doesn’t achieve anything except anger people he may have to deal with in the future.

This piece breaks my heart! I adore both of these men because they have such distanct yet different personalities. I always had this image in my mind that those two would become friends at LC, but this changes all of that. It’s like having two close friends fighting. I know that Isaac is his own man and makes choices that some people dont agree with, but I respect what he brings to the world. I know Tim is straightforward, so if he has any bad words for anything it is based on something legit. I am so torn about this and sad. I wish there was some follow up to find out if there is still a rift between them. I hope they find a way to get along.
