We received word this morning from H&M that Lanvin designers Alber Elbaz (womenswear) and Lucas Ossendrijver (menswear) are indeed creating a capsule collection for H&M.
The line will launch in North America on November 20 and the rest of the world on November 23. (November 20 is the day after Black Friday, which means H&M is sure to be doubly crazy that weekend.) Looks will be revealed in a film debuting on hm.com November 2, just a few weeks before they hit stores.
Until then, we’ll be dreaming of draped, 1940s-inspired dresses in juicy, fresh colors. Au revoir for now….

oh. my. god.
I mean, usually I am somwhat disappointed by the H&M design collaborations, it is either a designer that I don’t care for (jimmy choo) or what I like about the brand is not translated well (Viktor and Rolf, Marimekko etc) but this is one that I really, really hope looks good and translates well, because Albert’s work for Lanvin makes me want to die.
Ugh autocorrect, it’s Alber.
This joint-venture could rock the market and high-street stores. But I know: I wont be queuing up at seven in the morning before shop-opening.That is not my time.

I believe Black Friday (the Friday after Thanksgiving) is actually November 26. So the collection will arrive prior to that crazy day of shopping.
I love Lanvin but I don’t have very high hopes for this collaboration. A lot of what is superlative about Lanvin depends on the fabric quality: all those raw hems and exposed seams will just look cheap if done in H&M grade fabric. Same with the draping, it won’t translate. I predict this will be lots of Alber’s sketches printed on t-shirts, some leopard print slip skirts, and some tops with grosgrain ribbon detailing. Probably not anything to queue over but I’d love it if I were surprised.
Black Friday is the 26th…
Margareta Van den Bosch did say that Lanvin will bring its draping and tailoring or something like that to H&M so I’m fairly certain that prices will be much higher than other collaborations, so I don’t think it’ll be Lanvin at H&M quality, I think it’ll be more like H&M at a higher quality. I’m pretty sure that regardless of how the collection turns out on November 2nd, I’ll still be up early in the morning lining up to get my hands on it because it’s hard for Lanvin to go wrong in my book.
Will look forward to your posts when the collection hits. Hope my pessimism is wrong.
