Peter Jensen
Peter Jensen’s muse for SS11 was the one and only Shelley Duvall. Best known for her roles in The Shining, Memphis, and Popeye, Jensen translated Duvall’s ’70s looks into joyous, quirky ensembles for spring. The models donned matching black wigs and Twiggy eye-makeup to strut the runway in adorable flouncy skirts, asymmetrically draped sweatshirts, and layers upon layers of skirts and pants for Jensen’s The Shining inspired, finale looks. Peter Jensen and stylist Beth Fenton said some looks ended up looking worthy of a comic book heroine, all bright colors and playful proportions, which is more than welcome in my books. Once taken apart many of the items were wearable, particularly a sleek black dress. The best part, however, were the platform, primary colored heels with contrast laces, just right for adding a smile to your face.
