1. Is “everything” the new “major/on another level/bananas?” Both the Chanel look at the Love shoot and the bag Rachel chose to wear with her Met Ball dress were “everything.”

2. Why did Brad and Jordan have such (br)attitudes at the Love shoot? When they couldn’t fit the rolling rack into that weird shed, they could have just taken the clothes off, broken the rack down and put it back together inside. I’ve had to do much more annoying things at similar jobs.

3. Was anyone else thinking, ‘too much clavicle’ when Rachel put on that Marc dress? Otherwise, it was definitely a much better choice than the first one she tried on. Definitely cumbersome.

4. Is Brad all of a sudden admitting that he’s not cut out for his job? After being Team Zoe’s most eager beaver for the past few seasons, he laments, “I am so in love with my boyfriend and my dogs I feel like I want a lot more of that time.”

Other quotes that might indicate Brad’s dissatisfaction:

Madonna’s been pretty tight-lipped about W.E., the movie’s she’s currently directing and co-wrote. The plot has something to do with King Edward VIII’s affair with American socialite Wallis Simpson (they later married), played by James D’Arcy and Abbie Cornish. And Lourdes Leone will be taking a break from blogging to make her acting debut in the film. It’s Madonna’s second time directing, and she told Interview that this film has a “bigger story” and will be “more layered and complicated” than Filth and Wisdom, her directorial debut.

For her second attempt at directing, Madonna is pulling out the big guns. Some exclusive photos sent to us by a tipster show that she’s getting some high profile high fashion help. Looks like famed fashion photog Steven Klein is giving her Madgesty some advice while on set in Brooklyn last week. Of course it’s not the first time Madonna and Klein have worked together. The two paired up for an exhibition back in 2003, and he shot her for several editorials. Hopefully this bodes well for W.E. making a bigger splash than Filth and Wisdom.

Front Row Spillover: Burberry’s star-studded front row didn’t leave room for several major editors and it-girls. Hamish Bowles, Dree Hemmingway and other front row regulars were relegated to the second row. {Daily Front Row}

Shoe Shopping: Repetto, makers of super cute ballet flats and oxfords out of France, will have a shop-in-shop at Opening Ceremony. {Racked}

In other shoe news, Rad Hourani collaborated with Aldo on a line of shoes. The shoes are cool but not as affordable as they sound. {Refinery29}

While the quality of Gossip Girl’s plot lines may be diminishing (Dan has a baby? Really?), the quality of the show’s wardrobe is definitely stable. With the tour de force that was Serena and Blair’s summer in Paris, it might even be getting better. This is all thanks to Eric Daman, who might have the best job in the world. I mean, he gets to dress Chuck Bass.

Following two of Gossip Girl’s strongest episodes to date (fashion-wise), we spoke to Eric about his amazing day job, Taylor Momsen, the only show he went to during fashion week, and his latest gig with Match.com providing first date outfit advice, some of which he was nice enough to share with us. (And FYI–if you want a free 7-day Match.com trial, click here)

What qualifies Daman for such a job? He draws an interesting comparison: “Like TV, most of your date will be from the waist up.” (He recommends “something sparkly” like a necklace or earrings to decorate the oh so important above-the-waist area.) Whether or not your first date involves run-ins with Lou Doillon and balls with French dignitaries, there is no one better suited than Eric to dole out sartorial advice.

His first words of wisdom? “Guys love shoes as much as girls do,” Eric insists, citing a poll that suggests a majority of men prefer that their date wear heels. However, he doesn’t necessarily want all girls to dress like Blair Waldorf on the first date. Being yourself, and reflecting that with your attire, is more important. “I think women don’t know to listen to themselves enough. Their inner voice is their best friend. I think its best to always be firm about who you are, because that’s who you want to project and who you want the person across the table to fall in love with.”

Still, we want to know, what would Blair wear on a first date?

LONDON–I ran in and out of Louise Goldin‘s intimate presentation at St. Martins Lane, mostly because I felt feverish, but also because, well, there wasn’t much to see.

Yet this was most certainly a positive. The celebrated designer decided to pare things down this season. There were just a few looks in four colorways: red, black, white, and nude.

Trendspotting: Harnesses

Wednesday, Sep 22, 2010 / 10:30 AM

Maybe New York’s designers spent their summers rock climbing or bungee jumping, because harnesses seem to be having a moment.

Gucci is taking fashion show livestreaming to a new level of tech geekiness, starting today with their Spring 2011 show in Milan.

After an 18-month long “renovation,” Gucci recently introduced its redesigned digital flagship at Gucci.com, with creative direction by the brand’s designer, Frida Giannini.

Gucci Connect’s E-vent–a livestream of the Milan show–launched today at 8am EST as part of the celebration of the e-commerce site’s redesign.

Burberry Prorsum Cheat Sheet:

  • Patent belts–leather accents

  • Ruched satin
  • Mint green
  • Teal
  • Real biker jackets
  • Bondage
  • Ruched leather jackets
  • Leather motocross dress
  • Studs are here to stay

LONDON–So yeah. You may have seen a bunch of models fall on the Burberry Prorsum catwalk yesterday afternoon. The shoes, spikey F*ck Me booties, looked terribly, terribly uncomfortable, and I could almost feel the models’ pain emanating from the runway.

But they looked as good as they did torturous.
