By Leah ChernikoffTim Gunn has released a PSA for the Trevor Project, an organization focused on suicide prevention for LGBTQ youth. His video is part of the “It Gets Better Campaign,” started by advice columnist Dan Savage, and in it, he opens up about his own suicide attempt at 17 in order to tell young people in despair that it does goes better.
Gunn has been on a candid streak lately, refusing to adhere to fashion’s sacred code of silence about all things Anna, etc., and we kind of love him for it. But this is different, and it’s deeply personal. Here, he really speaks from the heart, tearing up himself towards the end of the PSA. Take a look, his story is powerful.

Good for you Tim Gunn for being so supportive! We are so glad that your suicide attempt did not happen otherwise we would not have a fabulous person like you in the world.
So sad. I can’t take hearing about all these kids dying because they’re being bullied. I’m glad people like Ellen and Tim Gunn are speaking out.
