Hi there,
In a press release today, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, the prince’s private secretary, said: “The couple have chosen to be married at Westminster Abbey on the Feast of St Catherine on Friday 29th April.
Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Prince William will marry Kate Middleton on April 29th 2011. The ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey, with the royal family and the Middletons sharing the cost. However, UK Taxpayers will be fitting the bill for security.

Gee, the British royals really are tight with money. Given that Ms Middleton’s relationship with the heir to the heir of the throne made her unemployable (except in the Middleton family business), lets hope the fact that her family is footing part of the bill means no invitations to distant freeloading royal relations, obscure heads of state, decrepit courtiers and suchlike. Here’s to a wedding where the couple knows all the guests, stifling conventions are absent and the couple can wear what THEY like.
Harry Smith talks to Katie Nicholl, royal correspondent and author of “Beyond the Palace Walls” about the significance of Westminster Abbey for the wedding of Prince William and Katherine Middleton.
