Are you a fabulous jet-setter or wanderlusting backpacker with inspirational travel stories to tell? If so, Massimiliano Giornetti, creative director of Salvatore Ferragamo, wants to hear them, and your travelogue might inspire a one-of-a-kind Ferragamo W bag.
The iconic W bag is named after the company’s matriarch, Wanda Ferragamo, and is decidedly travel-inspired. “For the Resort 2011 collection I drew heavily from the Mediterranean and the new jet set crowd that holidays on the coast,” Massimiliano Giornetti said in a release. “I’m always curious to know what inspires others and how their sources of inspiration affect their daily lives and style choices. With the technology of today, the W List was created to share stories that inspire ourselves and inspire others digitally as we travel the globe at a second’s thought.”
So, the company launched The W List, which seemingly anyone can be a part of by submitting your name, inspiring locale, and a few sentences on why this destination inspires you. Users can also read and vote on the stories that inspire them most. The most voted on stories then move up the list automatically and, at the end of 60 days, the owner of the top story will be gifted her very own custom-made W bag. Runners up will receive Spring/Summer 2011 bags as well.
The site launched today, but a few “fashion insiders” got to join early, namely Selita Ebanks (Sierra Leone–it’s where she fell in love with motherhood), Fabiola Beracasa (Bali), Elettra Wiedemann (her grandparent’s Zen-inspired house in the rain forest in Sooke, British Columbia), Poppy De Villeneuve (southern Louisiana), Genevieve Jones (Thailand), Lydia Fenet (Sapa in north Vietnam), and Kelsey Chow (southern California). But don’t be intimidated, I’m sure your travel stories are just as exotic and inspirational as theirs. And if not, the stories are kind of fun to read and might just give you some inspiration.
