We’ve had our eye on jewelry label Ruby Kobo ever since they were selected to work in the CFDA’s Fashion Incubator last February.

Since then, Yuvi Alpert and Danna Kobo, the 26-year-old duo behind the two-year-old line, have been hard at work in their CFDA-funded Garment Center studio expanding their collection of bohemian-inspired fine jewelry. They just launched their own website, and their new holiday collection is one of their strongest to date.

But, unlike most designers launching websites these days, Ruby Kobo won’t offer e-commerce. Why? “I didn’t want to,” says designer Yuvi Alpert. “We want to do private appointments only–it’s really important for people to go to our showroom and see the jewelry up close and touch it.” That, and each piece is custom fitted for the client. (Ruby Kobo is also sold at around 15 specialty stores across the country including Bergdorf’s in New York, Rose Ark in LA, and Ikram in Chicago.)

Ruby Kobo’s newest collection is made from naturally shed elk and deer antlers, so that each diamond encrusted or gold dipped antler ring, pendant or earrings are unique. So where do you find naturally shed antlers in Manhattan? The same place you find everything else–the internet. “A get them from a guy I found online,” Alpert explained. “They’re from Montana.”

Alpert, who got into jewelry after he made a piece for an ex-girlfriend (and she kept getting compliments on it), got inspired by antlers after noticing all the horn shaped toggles on coats people were wearing in New York. Having grown up in California, Miami and Tel Aviv, Alpert hadn’t seen too many coats before moving to the city to pursue his line.

Sourcing unique materials, like antlers, to create one of a kind pieces, is no doubt why the CFDA selected Ruby Kobo as one of 12 labels to “incubate.” They draw inspiration from their global travels, incorporating Tulsi wood beaded necklaces from Jaipur, India and diamond encrusted Tibetan mask pendants.

Up next, Alpert says he’d love to collaborate with designers to create pieces for runway. His dream collab list? John Varvatos, Phillip Lim, Band of Outsiders, and Phoebe Philo. Not bad.

LOVE boho. Organic boho is even better.

Wow… I love this new generation of Organic and more natural products. Its something that I can proudly pass down to my daughter and hopefully she will have a more healthy life because of it! I just found this new website and have been real lucky lately getting great deals on pre-paid visa cards and many more gift cards. This helps me afford these newer designs…… http://www.auctionpenny.ca/ . Lastnight I won a 200.00$ pre paid mastercard auction and only paid 18.00$!

I met Yuvi Alpert in Paris during Fashion Week…what an awesome guy! Friendly, down-to-earth and very talented. He’s definitely one to watch.
