Reader Angie tipped us off to his rather upsetting Adventures In Copyright.

It seems that See by Chloe has blatantly ripped off Mandy Coon’s “Ginny Bunny Bag.” Both bags are black leather, and in the shape of bunny. We wonder though, how the quality of the leather compares among the two bags. The only noticeable difference between the two is that the original bag has a gold chain while the See by Chloe bag has a wrist band.

Either way, it’s always disappointing to see big labels rip off smaller, independently-owned labels. Especially when the knocked-off piece looks exactly the same as the original. Then again, both bags kind of remind us of those coveted Giles dinosaurs bags.

Lauren Moffatt launched in 2000 when the designer and her partner, Rob Pepin, met at school in Philadelphia and started their own vintage-inspired collection.

For the first two seasons, Moffatt sewed and constructed all the pieces from her home, which believe it or not, was a 31-foot sailboat docked on New York City’s Hudson River. That’s amazing.

Since their days on the Hudson, the line has evolved while still remaining true to their original aesthetic.

Their Spring 2011 collection, “The Honeymooner,” is filled with fun patterns, colors, and details. Take a look at some of my favorite pieces from their amazing lookbook, which was styled by Michel Onofrio.

Fashionista contributor Long Nguyen is the co-founder/style director of Flaunt.

REVIEW:
Curated by Valerie Steele, Director of the Museum at FIT, Japan Fashion Now–an exhibition extended through April 2, 2011–surveys the past 30 years of Japanese fashion with a comprehensive view of contemporary fashion in Japanese society. In Japan, fashion has always occupied a central role in delineating gender, social and political roles.

The exhibit starts with the Japanese revolution–from the designers who went to Paris in 1981 to showcase their unique creations–and moves on to the years of economic downturn that resulted in today’s youth oriented styles like Gothic Lolitas, Forest Girls, Bosozoku (biker punks), and Mambas. And those are only a few among the many diverse expressions of subcultures, depending on the areas where the kids hang out: Harajuku, Shinjuku, Shibuya or Akihabara.

The show demonstrated the incredible creativity of fashion in Japan.

Celebs Heart Erdem: British designer Erdem is quickly become a go-to for celebs for red carpets and press appearances. At least the ones with good taste, like Jessica Biel, Anne Hathaway, SJP, Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams. We approve. {Telegraph UK}

MaxMara’s Rubik’s Contest: Want to win a super cozy MaxMara coat and potentially a free trip to Milan while you’re at it? All you have to do is download this iApp game. It’s called Decode the Cube and from what we understand, it’s like a rubik’s cube with pictures of models in coats. Sounds fun! And you only have until November 21 to win, so get downloading! {MaxMara’s Facebook}

Fashion Tarot Cards: “Contemporary Magic: A Tarot Deck Art Project” is a new exhibit arriving at New York City’s private National Arts Club. We’ve already asked a psychic to tell us what’s in store for our favorite fashion designers. Now, fashion designers including Marc Jacobs and Karl Lagerfeld, as well as Terence Koh, Terry Richardson and others have each been chosen to reinterpret a tarot card. Apparently, Jacobs’ Knight of Pentacles card features a model flashing her bare crotch. {StyleList}

Shoes You can Print? Dutch shoe designer Marloes ten Bhömer is reinventing the shoe making process by using 3-D printing technology. “To create each shoe, the printer uses a 3D model of a person’s foot to lay down successive layers of powdered material (in this case two photopolymers), which are then cured using ultraviolet rays.” We’re confused too. {Ecouterre}

These are a few of my favorite things: The New York Botanical Garden’s gift shop is full of cute items (great for Holiday gifts) and they’ve decided to ask bloggers to pick their favorite things and share them in a new series for Plant Talk (NYBG’s blog). Check out what our very own Lauren Sherman thinks you should get for your garden-loving friends. {Plant Talk}

Classic outdoor apparel label Penfield has teamed up again with Rag & Bone to create a limited edition quilted down jacket for the holiday season.

Winter coats, especially quilted puffers, are not particularly flattering. That’s why we’re pushing the military anorak as the winter coat of choice. Because while quilted parkas are very good at keeping you warm, they’re also really good at rendering you into a shapeless blob.

But the Penfield for Rag & Bone quilted winter jacket manages to avoid the Michelin man-effect. It’s puffy and quilted and full of down but it’s also tailored and even looks slimming. It’s the perfect mix of Penfield’s heritage look–it comes in charcoal Schoeller wool with snap front pockets and corduroy at the shoulders–with Rag & Bone’s tailoring. The jacket is longer than most puffers that hit at the waist, accentuating the nipped-in waist.

Last night, Glamour magazine held their 20th annual Women of the Year Awards. The amount of lady power that packed Carnegie Hall was staggering and inspiring. Honorees included Queen Rania of Jordan, Cher, Julia Roberts, Constance McMillen (who took a stand when she couldn’t take her girlfriend to prom) and Donatella Versace. Oprah, Kate Hudson, Katie Couric, Janet Jackson, Hilary Swank and Diane Sawyer were among the presenters. Tavi Gevinson was there too, recognized as one of the mag’s 20 young women who are already changing the world. Sequined and spectacled in clear frames, Tavi looked a bit sheepish when Chelsea Clinton described her as blogging her way to become one of the most well known fashion writers out there.

One of the most compelling moments of the evening (and there were many), came when Janet Jackson presented Donatella Versace with her award. Through tears (and in a black Atelier Versace gown), Janet explained that when her brother died she called Donatella because she knew she would understand. “We both lost brothers,” Janet said, “we share a very deep bond.” Having her family wear Versace to Michael’s funeral “meant we were dressed in love,” Janet said.

To say that we would wear every, single thing in Elizabeth and James’ Spring 2011 collection would not be an overstatement. Designers Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, also behind that little brand The Row, have gone Parisian for spring, as evident in this exclusive preview of their lookbook. There’s a sheer mint blouse, a blush gypsy dress, as well as silk shorts, pants, and blazers in a range of muted colors. Very Clémence Poésy, if you ask us.

The highly-anticipated sunglasses range is also on full display, and it’s priced between $155 to $265. What’s so incredible about Elizabeth and James–other than the fact that the clothes are so good and reasonably-priced–is the breadth of categories they cover. The brand currently encompasses women’s apparel, shoes, jewelry, eyewear and the more casual, denim-centric division: TEXTILE Elizabeth and James.

LOS ANGELES–From Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen to James Perse and Seven for All Mankind, stylist Elyse Walker has sold on-trend pieces and wardrobe staples at her namesake boutique in the Pacific Palisades since 1999. And with the recent launch of Elysewalker.com, her edit is now available to everyone.

Thursday night’s party celebrating the new site was held in the 6,500 square foot shop, which contains five connected rooms, each showcasing a different aspect of the retailer’s high/low mix. As we wandered through the store, J Brand jeans gave way to designer brands like Prada, while a pair of leopard print Giuseppe Zanotti wedges had us swooning in the handbag and shoe room. No wonder actresses like Jennifer Garner and Kate Beckinsale are such loyal clients. Add to that the impressive fact that Elyse Walker is one of the largest Balenciaga specialty store accounts in the country.
