Prince William and Kate Middleton are finally engaged after eight years of dating. Wills proposed a month ago while the couple were on vacation in Kenya, and today, Clarence House officially announced their engagement. Prince William and Kate are set to wed this coming spring or summer, and the world should get a peek of the engagement ring tonight when the 28-year-old couple give their first public interview. But we’re more interested in the dress, of course, and as there’s no word yet on what Kate will wear down the aisle at Westminster Abbey (or whatever royal venue is chosen), we’ve gathered our top picks.

Middleton clearly has an interest in fashion–she’s worked as an accessories buyer for Brit chain Jigsaw and she was offered a job in PR with Tom Ford–but her style tends towards clean and simple. Will she go with Bruce Oldfield who designs for the Royals, or a younger Brit bridal line like Temperley? Will she stick with her go-to fave, Issa, or go edgier?

Here’s what we’re hoping for. What would you like to see Kate wear?

Whatever she wears, it would only make sense for it to be a British designer.

I didn’t like any of the choices offered in the article, not for Kate. They were either too subdued or inappropriate for a formal royal wedding. I’d love to see what Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen might do for the occasion.

you guys at fashionista are retarded. the dress choices are weak. Jcrew? i mean come on, shes going to be a queen. save yourself the embarrassment and stop doing these stupid articles.

*and the world should get a PEEK?

you guys a l w a y s have typos

While most of these dresses are pretty, I agree with the above commenters who say that they are inappropriate. A short, strapless Lhullier? Come on now, not after the train Diana had on her dress…

*Lhuillier. Apologies!

you guys need to chill out.. if you don’t like the blog, don’t read it and be rude.
on another note.. i LOVE this dress.. can anyone tell me what collection of Marchesa’s this is from?

One of the great elements of blogging, especially on a blog like this, is that readers are able to bounce ideas off of each other and comment on materials posted.

Westwood or Sarah Burton for Mcqueen, absolutely should be a British house.

It definitely will be a British designer, you can bet on that. It would be frowned upon to look to international designers to make her dress, especially when the wedding will be at the expense of the British taxpayer in times of austerity. Also I agree with Natalieo, you have put forward a very poor selection of suggested dresses, most would be considered wholly inappropriate for a royal wedding.
