Quote of the Day: Sarah Jessica Parker is Proud of Being Prude, Scared of Cocaine
By Leah ChernikoffSarah Jessica Parker, star of that whole Sex and the City phenomenon, opened up to the UK’s Sun about how she reconciled being a prude with starring in the series about women who were anything but. And about how’s she’s scared of drugs and somehow only recently saw cocaine for the first time despite having been in showbiz for over 30 years.
“I wish I hadn’t been so ashamed of being a prude. It would have made life so much easier. I now don’t mind who knows about my opinions…I have never taken drugs in my life and only witnessed it at a party for the first time quite recently. I made the mistake of walking in to a bathroom and saw a person I knew snorting cocaine. They had a rolled-up dollar bill, like something out of the film Scarface. I was terrified that the police would raid us!”…Before I even started filming Sex And The City, I had a ‘no nudity’ clause inserted in my contract. By then, I felt no sense of guilt. I knew that I would not feel comfortable with nudity. I was thrilled that the other cast members could accept it and did it really well.”
No wait, there’s more.
“I was not being judgmental. It was just how I felt. I was not comfortable with nude scenes, scenes with sex toys or vulgar language – so I did not do any…My character, Carrie, kissed a lot of men – but that’s as far as it went. I had the maturity to control my panic about the whole series and what it meant. At one point, after the pilot show of Sex And The City was made and they wanted me to sign up for the series, I wanted to get out of it.”

she dated robert downey jr and wants us to believe she is so innocent that she only just saw someone use blow for the first time? give me a break! what a phony….
excellent point
My thoughts, exactly! And she needn’t have bothered with the ‘no nudity’ clause in her Sex and the City contract; nobody wants to see her naked!
Eh, I dated a guy who was a heavy cocaine user and he hid it very well. It took me a while to figure it out because I was young and naive. He probably knew she’d disapprove and he hid it.

No nudity clause! That reminds me of the episode when it was fleet week and they all went dancing in a bar with men in uniforms. An officer asks Charlotte to show him her breast. She does, and Carrie is shocked; soon after Miranda shows her breast when she is breast feeding her baby. Later that night, Carrie tells Samantha that she seen both Charlottes and Miranda’s breasts and out of nowhere Samantha just shows her breast to Carrie. We saw everyone’s breast that night except SJP.

Why all the hate towards SJP? She talked about the no-nudity clause when the series first started years ago.
