Writing about fashion full time means getting a little obsessed–okay, really, really obsessed–with certain topics. (Cough, Taylor Momsen, cough.)

But when it comes to actual clothes and accessories, our enthusiasm knows no bounds.

From those elusive Pierre Hardy boots (we finally had to cave and buy a pair) to Stella McCartney Kids clothes (adults can fit a large, thank you!), there was lots to blog about. Care to take a look?

They’ve been around for years, but they’re new to me. And maybe you?

Did you know…that Balmain boasts a very, very successful line of hair extensions? I stumbled upon the range while reading the blog Hair On The Brain. Some research reveals that Racked featured it in March when a salon on the Upper East Side became New York’s one-and-only supplier of Balmain hair.

But this isn’t another Jessica Simpson fake hair fiasco.

This week online fashion powerhouse Shopbop and beauty retailer Sephora unveiled a new collaboration. They are co-branding an enormous makeup palette, called Color Play 5-in-1: Fashion Edition, which is–as the name suggests–actually five separate palettes. The gist is that you snap out the palette which is appropriate for whatever outfit you’re wearing that day and voila! Coordinating makeup.

I adore both of these companies and shudder to think how much money I’ve spent at both over my lifetime, but this product is a bit of a head-scratcher.

Shopbop pulled together a lookbook of iconic styles (Ali MacGraw as the “Classic Prep,” Twiggy as “London Mod”–you get the idea.) There is a small beauty close-up on each page which shows the coordinating makeup look.

After being distracted by the lovely goods for sale, I started thinking: does the average Shopbop shopper need this color-by-numbers approach to dressing and makeup?

Editorials in 2010 were so extraordinary, I’ve started reading magazines from the back (sorry, advertisers!). From Vogue Paris’ 90th Anniversary extravaganza to Numero’s consistently enchanting spreads, 2010 was a year for drama. The editorials were so good, we know them by name: “Wash you face in my sink” from LOVE, “Vogue à porter” in Vogue Paris, and “La Mauvaise Education” in Numéro.

So what makes an editorial great? Teamwork. All the eds here show the best collaboration between photographer, stylist, and model.

No Riri for Topshop: After Rihanna tweeted about her lunch with Sir Phillip Green the Daily Mail speculated that lunch = Rihanna becomes Tophop’s next celebrity designer. Cristobal Balenciaga. Pierre Balmain. Gabrielle Chanel.

Back in the day, these fashion deities had a contemporary who could have also ended up a household name: Jacques Fath. Sadly, an early death from leukemia closed the shutters on his house, lauded for its daring and dynamic designs.

Fifty-six years after Fath’s death, French conglomerate Alliance Designers Group–owned by Alain Dumenil–has bought the label and installed none other than Dumenil’s daughter, Laurence Dumenil, as the line’s creative director. Sure, we know what you’re thinking–and naturally we thought the same. But as she tells Fashionista, Ms. Dumenil’s not worried about the whispers regarding the nepotism that so obviously took place. Instead, she’s focused squarely on bringing the line back to its former glory. Check out our exclusive Q&A with her and view our gallery of the brand’s 2011 accessories collection.

French model Isabelle Caro, known for posing nude for an anti-anorexia ad campaign that ran during Milan Fashion Week in 2007, has died.

Though news of Caro’s tragic death just broke today, she died on November 17 after being treated for an acute lung infection in Tokyo, her acting instructor, Daniele Dubreuil-Prevot, confirmed to the Associated Press. The cause of death, and the reason her death is only being reported a month and a half after she died, are both unknown.

Caro’s anti-anorexia campaign, shot by Olivero Toscani, made headlines and caused controversy when it ran in Milan in 2007. Numerous reports have stated that Caro weighed just 59 pounds when she was photographed for the campaign, which ran on billboards and in newspapers.

According to StyleList, the campaign was endorsed by the Italian Ministry of Health, but designers took issue with it–Dolce & Gabbana said that anorexia has “nothing to do with fashion,” and Giorgio Armani said, “even people who take no notice of fashion get anorexic.”

The campaign ran shortly after 21-year-old Brazilian model Ana Carolina Reston died of anorexia.

Caro was vocal about her struggle with the disorder. She appeared on CBS News shortly after her shocking campaign ran in Milan. “I’ve been anorexic since I was 13,” Caro said, “I said if i can put my years of suffering to use, then it will not have been pointless…it’s really a warning that this is a serious illness.” Following the campaign Caro also told reporters, “I thought this could be a chance to use my suffering to get a message across, and finally put an image on what thinness represents and the danger it leads to — which is death.”

The sunset is almost as beautiful as the pair of shoes and sweater I bought at Prada today :)

–Sometimes Prada trumps beautiful natural occurrences like a Hawaiian sunset for Brad Goreski, who tweeted as much today. Check out a tweetpic of said sunset that was not as beautiful as the Prada purchases here. A pic of the Prada shoes and sweater please, Brad, so we can compare?

Modeling school founder, jam maker, and now rock star?

Now that Kate’s wrapped her Topshop line, it seems she’s game to try on many hats other than the supermodel one she wears so well. Last we heard, she said she would like to try opening a modeling school. Before that, it was fruit preserves, with her forthcoming Kate’s Damson Jams (still no word on when those jam jars will hit shelves).

The latest? Moss is venturing into the music world to record her own album, the Daily Mail is reporting.

Of course, it’s not a world that’s all too foreign for Moss–many of her boyfriends, including her current one, Jamie Hince, have been rockers. And she’s dabbled in music before too, singing on stage with ex-boyfriend Pete Doherty at a charity gig in 2009, and guesting on tracks for Primal Scream and The Lemonheads. Most recently, she’s Bryan Ferry’s “Roxy Girl,” the face of his latest album, Olympia, and is rumored to sing a duet with him on his next album.
