Behold: Gisele Bündchen Goes Punk for Balenciaga’s Spring Campaign
By Leah Chernikoff
Lately it seems Gisele Bündchen is more super mom than supermodel. When we last saw her she was in cartoon form, starring in an AOL kids animated web series “Gisele & the Green Team,” which promotes green living.
So it was a surprise when Bündchen walked the runway for Balenciaga in September. Now Bündchen has teamed back up with the French house to star in their spring campaign (shot by Steven Meisel, styled by Marie-Amélie Sauvé). Of course, it’s not a long-maned Victoria Secret-esque Bündchen you’ll see. Designer Nicolas Ghesquière has used less conventional punkier waifs like Charlotte Gainsbourg as his muse, so it follows that Bündchen’s look for the campaign is harder and more androgynous.
Bündchen’s campaign costar is male model Yuri Pleskun who appears in a rather disconcerting black and white image naked, his eyes darkened, and what looks like lipstick smeared sloppily across his mouth.
Take a look.

Nicolas is good at changing directions so fast each season. I anticipate the engineer boots to be on every models’ must-have.
