Christian Louboutin Teams Up With Menswear Designer Marlon Gobel for New York Fashion Week

Thom Browne and Michael Bastian alum Marlon Gobel might only be three seasons into his own collection, but he's got friends in high places. In fact, Gobel is collaborating with world-famous shoemaker Christian Louboutin for his Fall 2011 collection. Gobel's models will wear shoes from Louboutin's men's line on the runway in February at New York Fashion Week--a first for the cobbler, who is predominantly known for his sky high heels. Last season, Gobel used a pair of Louboutin heels for his only women's look. Christian loved Gobel's style so much that he offered to outfit the boys for Fall 2011. "It's amazing," Gobel tells Fashionista. "His shoes are transformative and elegant."

Gobel is yet another rising star making New York Fashion Week a must-visit for menswear editors across the globe. "I think having a show in New York is so important, especially for a men's designer!" he says. Menswear gets no love or glamor. A [runway] show tells a story, gives a fantasy." Well, this newbie is certainly contributing to menswear's rising reputation, one red sole at a time.
