It almost felt like a cruel joke on Mother Nature’s part when we headed out to a lingerie launch in last night’s below-freezing weather, but the gorgeous goods on display were well worth braving the chill. La Perla’s Upper East Side flagship was the site of an intimate (pun intended) cocktail event for the presentation of Jean Paul Gaultier’s Collection Createur—a line the French design legend crafted exclusively for the luxury lingerie label.

The store was packed with immaculately coiffed uptown girls—and more than a few dapper dudes, too—who wasted no time in scoping out JPG’s signature boned bustiers, retro-sexy garters, and, yes, cone bras. Inspired by his early-90s designs for the Material Girl herself, Gaultier’s La Perla underthings certainly put the “hot” in haute. We imagine the lacy goods, available in nudes and neutrals as well as more daring crimson and blues, will be a quite a hit amongst couture-loving couples this Christmas.
