David Lauren and Lauren Bush are engaged, the NY Post is reporting. The fashionable couple started dating six years ago after they met at the Vogue Costume Institute gala, so it was fitting that Lauren proposed Friday night at the Met.

It is truly a union of fashion and pedigree. Lauren is the 39-year-old son of Ralph Lauren and Bush is a model, designer (she has a line called Lauren Pierce), and is most known today for her FEED bag charity whose bags and other products combat hunger.

We’ve been awaiting this union because if Lauren Pierce Bush (W’s niece) takes her future husband’s name she’ll be Lauren Lauren. And that will be hilarious.

Georgia May Jagger, offspring of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall and one of this year’s most recognizable and in-demand models, is surprisingly normal.

That’s despite the fact that you can barely open a fashion mag without seeing the 18-year-old beauty–and that she’s already starting to experience controversy. Her first Hudson campaign, in which she appeared topless, caught flack for being too sexual (she was only 17 at the time) and her Rimmel mascara ad was recently banned for featuring false eyelashes.

Yet Georgia has stayed grounded despite all of the attention. She is super sweet, well-spoken and close to her mum. In many ways, she’s simply an 18-year-old girl who just moved to New York.

We chatted while she was getting a haircut (ah, the perks of being a model) in the middle of a stripped down loft apartment with sparse vintage furniture and taxidermy–the set of her next Hudson jeans campaign. But this isn’t just a collection advert–it’s for Georgia’s very own line for Hudson. Yes, the budding supermodel is designing. HUDSON by GEORGIA MAY JAGGER hits stores in March 2011.

But back to her hair. “I had a cut that [draws a straight line with her hand] looked like someone just hacked it straight across.” Besides bad haircuts, she talked to us about her teeth, living in the east village with her sister, falsies and retouching in beauty ads, her photography aspirations and more. Plus, click through for more behind-the-scenes pics from the shoot.

Fashionista: What’s the best thing about working with Hudson?

LOS ANGELES-Saturday night Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala, the boys behind the clothing line William Rast, launched their limited edition line for Target with a special shopping event. And it was some party. Guests entering the industrial space in downtown Los Angeles were instantly transported into the William Rast for Target world of rebellious biker culture. The brand’s campaign video, set in some remote country landscape, was projected high up on the walls, and carpeted lounge-like shopping areas throughout the warehouse lent the event a bohemian, laid back vibe. Even the dressing rooms, seemingly made from wooden shipping crates, complemented the rough and tough aesthetic of the brand. (Super creative idea; unfortunately it was also claustrophobia-inducing.)

Lucky party-goers got to beat the Target crowds and shop the Western-inspired collection alongside celebs like Rachel Bilson, Anna Faris, and Malin Akerman. (As well as that dude from Gossip Girl and The Social Network.) In between bites of mac and cheese and mini ice cream sandwiches, we also spotted Joy Bryant, Minka Kelly, and Chord Overstreet of Glee checking out the goods.

As cool as the party was, the night’s real stand-out was the super affordable and entirely-wearable collection, with pieces ranging from $16.99 to $199.99.

Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s official engagement photos, shot by Mario Testino, have been released. There are two images: A formal full length photo of the couple dressed up and standing in a royal room, and a casual, closely cropped, intimate photo of the couple locked in an an embrace.

Middleton insisted on dressing herself for the shoot, the Telegraph is reporting, despite the several stylists who were on hand, at the ready with armfuls of designer duds. Instead, she rummaged through her own closet pulling out a two-year-old cream colored blouse by Whistles which retailed for £95 to wear for the intimate, less formal photo, and a cream colored dress with a ruffle up the side from Reiss, which retailed for £159 when it was in stores last year, for the formal portrait.

It’s Sunday, and raining very hard here in New York. We suggest spending the day reading the latest issue of Lula, guest-edited by Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy. If you can’t get to the newsstand just now, at least take this questionnaire, dreamed up by the sisters years ago when Kate’s best friend Autumn “started dating a new new guy that I thought we should know more about.” In Lula, everyone from Cindy Sherman to Jason Schwartzman succumbed. Here’s your chance:

Jingle bells, deck the halls, light the menorah and–most important–start buying those holiday presents!

December means not only gifts, but also gift guides. (If Oprah didn’t give us her holiday O-List, how would you know that Aunt Helen would like some sweet-potato butter?) These guides can be helpful, but they’re an awful lot to plow through. To save you the work, StyleList has sifted through the best (and a couple of the worst, just for fun) of the magazine holiday gift guides.

The January 2011 issue of Russian Vogue is out, the first under new EIC Viktoria Davydova, and fans of the mag are already in an uproar about the direction she’s taking it.

To start, Davydova’s chosen an unconventional, not to mention controversial, covergirl in Alina Kabaeva. She’s not a model and she’s not exactly a celebrity. She is a decorated rhythmic gymnast (she took home the gold at the 2004 Olympics), but she is better known as Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s rumored mistress. Two years ago, when Putin was still President and still married to wife Ludmilla (as he still is today), stories circulated in the press that Putin was to marry Kabaeva. To stoke the fire a bit, the headline between Kabaeva’s legs translates to “Her Main Victory,” a Russian reader tells us.

Davydova came from Tatler, where celeb covers are de rigeur (Jennifer Lopez is currently on the cover of Russian Tatler), so that she put a non-model on the cover is not much of a surprise.

But after years under the talented direction Aliona Doletskaya, who is rumored to be headed to POP after resigning from Vogue Russia, to say that fans are disappointed with Davydova and her first cover for the mag would be a gross understatement. It doesn’t help that Kabaeva is wearing the same gold Balmain dress that has already seen countless covers. Five pages of comments have already amassed over at the online forum The Fashion Spot bemoaning the new Russian Vogue.

Having cut her creative teeth at Bill Blass, Armani, and Ralph Lauren, designer Thomasine Dolan’s self-proclaimed “love of haberdashery” shines through in her debut collection’s preppy oxford shirts and adorable madras swimwear, which we previewed last night at Saturdays Surf.

“It really started with the bikinis—and the clothes followed,” the designer explained of her line, set to be carried this spring at both the downtown surf boutique and Steven Alan.

Though she had never tried her hand at cutting bathing suits before, Dolan stressed that each look in her line is meant to be layered atop one of the bikinis—a more dressed-up take on the typical beach cover-up. “Buttoned-up can be really sexy if the fit is right!” she said.
