They’ve been around for years, but they’re new to me. And maybe you?

Did you know…that Balmain boasts a very, very successful line of hair extensions? I stumbled upon the range while reading the blog Hair On The Brain. Some research reveals that Racked featured it in March when a salon on the Upper East Side became New York’s one-and-only supplier of Balmain hair.

But this isn’t another Jessica Simpson fake hair fiasco. The collection is marketed with fans of the Balmain runway in mind, with images and videos of Christophe Decarnin’s looks peppered throughout the site. While the photography attached to the line isn’t as high fashion as something you’d expect from a French house, it isn’t terrible, either. And when you think about it, Balmain is all about bringing crass to couture. So maybe this makes more sense than I originally assumed.

There are nine different collections, from permanent real human hair to semi-permanent synthetic, as well as “daily” pieces that can be used for a big event. There’s even one for those who want their tresses to look more voluminous.

Have you tried Balmain hair extensions?

hair and now…

Haha thanks! How’d you know we’ve been obsessing over that video?

Yea, the link I gave in the fashion news roundup is from Nowness but I cut it up for you guys.

i remember reading about these last year…curious to hear what people thought of them too. but i imagine they are just as annoying as any other brand of extensions.

Why do you think they are annoying? I used to be indifferent about it until I met Jenny Shimizu’s ex-gf whose mother invented this seamless extension that is unreal. I mean, the first time I met Susi, I was thinking how beautiful her hair was and she told me that they were extensions and I just couldn’t believe it. I find the industry fascinating, especially the industry in India.

i find them annoying because they never look like susi’s! typically, they look so, so bad

I guess, with anything, you get what you pay for right? I mean, I’m sure Oprah’s super expensive weave/extension will look more realistic than someone who can only spend a couple hundred for the work.

Whether it looks good or bad, I think it’s helpful for thinning hair and people who can’t be bothered to wait for their hair to grow.

They originally gave Christophe creative reins of the extension branch of the company as well, but bullet-riddled, studded tracks of weave were not so popular.

Happy New Years to everyone@fashionista.com. n all of u guy’s n good idea to talk n i think people like it..

I knew of the extensions, but I only recently discovered that it was the same Balmain as the fashion label. They seemed like a much higher quality than any other hair extensions I tried.
