Last Friday Jezebel ran a post headlined, “Crystal Renn’s Agency Says She’s A Size 2.” Which is weird because Renn’s agency, Ford, has always been very forthcoming about her size, and the last time we checked in with them about Renn, she was an eight.

The piece goes on to cite an interview Renn did for Plus Model Radio radio in which she said, “Because of my size currently, I straddle this line between the two worlds–I guess you could say I’m a plus size straight size model. I am four inches smaller than a plus size model and four inches bigger than a straight size model.”

So we checked in with Renn‘s agent at Ford who confirmed that though she has dropped weight over the last year after picking up hiking and exercising again after recovering from her eating disorder, she’s a six/eight, not a two. “There was an error in the initial printing and it is being rectified,” Gary Dakin, Renn’s agent told us. “She maintains a 37-38 hip.”

So maybe we can just leave it at this for now: Renn is a great model who is passionate about what she does and open about her size, which fluctuates like most women.

“If people have truly followed her message, it is about acceptance and beauty at any size,” Dakin told us earlier.

“there was an error…”
LOL smells like agent bullshit. they put “2″ on that card as swiftly as the moved her from the plus size to the image board…

not that any of this matters. renn is amazing at any size.

well, so many models are size 2, they probably leave it for everyone and the graphic designer didn’t realize to change it for Crystal. I doubt any harm was meant.

Then again, I could be wrong.

This woman is so manly in the face. Size 8 is great but I don’t understand the overall Amazon look.

its nice for people to understand that women do not stay a fixed size…. its only those luckt few who can eat what they want and stay skinny but 99pc need to work at it an they fluctuate – maybe fashion and the media should learn to understand that

This post reads pretty disingenuously. I know Fashionista has ties to Ford, and that you want to maintain them, but acting as if Jezebel just made up a story about Crystal being a size 2 is misleading and not a reflection of what actually happened. As anyone in the industry who received Ford’s show package can tell you, Ford listed Crystal as having 34″ hips and stated her size as a size 2. Those are the actual numbers Ford had printed on her actual show card, hundreds of copies of which are all over Manhattan.

I’m sure it was really an error…anyone who has worked with Crystal knows that those are not her actual measurements. It’s standard practice to fudge the numbers on showcards…I’m sure that some dumb intern at Ford saw Crystal’s real measurements and thought s/he was being really smart by “correcting” them in the way that so many other models’ measurements are “corrected” down an inch or two. Let this be a lesson to Ford in proofreading!

You cannot tell me Renn is a size 8. Perhaps 6 months ago but no longer. Please stop pretending she straddles the sizes….this woman is a straight skinny model and pretending she is plus size is insulting and dangerous for those with body image issues.

Any model could be dangerous for those with body image issues. Girls/guys can see a “plus size” model and say “They’re bigger like me…so it’s okay if I eat more and not exercise” and vice versa. Home girl can strike a pose and I keep saying that is all we should be concentrating on. Let’s forget the sizes and focus on the movement of beautiful models. Sheesh!

Yes, she is a wonderful gorgeous model, and what you say would be true were it not for her writing a book called “Hungry”. She wanted to reach out to people with serious body issues while promoting that book. There would be no point to caring about her size if they did not try to promote her as plus-size when she is clearly not.

As much as I love Crystal, I find this rather disappointing. As a labeled “plus-size” girl, I look up to models like her, and after reading her book, she stressed that every body fluxuates until it reaches the size it was meant to be, and hers was a 12. I just don’t understand how as the highest paid plus-sizemodel, one would want to change that. As far as the “amazon” goes, she just has strong brows. People embrace those now.

At the end of the day, I am happy for her and anyone else who works hard to feel good about themselves. I just wish she hadn’t promoted her double-digit size when it seems like now she’s not.
