Go Behind the Scenes of Black Swan With Swarovski and Rodarte
By Leah ChernikoffIn this behind-the-scenes video, we see how Swarovski crystals play a part not only in the costumes designed by Rodarte (note costume designer Amy Westcott is absent in the video) but also the set design, as they lent several sparkling chandeliers to the film. Moreover, we get a sense that while the Mulleavy’s might be designers first, they are truly movie buffs, giving credence to the rumor that the sisters might be interesting in doing more movie projects. “I think Natalie’s performance in the film is a pivotal performance, I feel like it is one of the great performances in film,” says Kate Mulleavy.
Swarovski is very smart and discriminating in choosing projects and designers to partner with–from Black Swan to Burlesque (it’s Cher, ok?), to enlisting Karl Lagerfeld and Joseph Altuzarra to design for Atelier Swarovski, to underwriting shows for designers like Erdem Moralioglu and Prabal Gurung. “We really rely on people who have a vision of how the product can be implemented in a beautiful way,” says Nadja Swarovski.
